Carson Allen, Canyon, Inf., 5-10, Jr.
Allen established himself as one of the best hitters in the area in his first varsity season with the Class 4A state semifinalist Eagles. He thrived in the prestigious No. 3 spot in the lineup, hitting .359 with four home runs and 33 RBIs and was named the District 4-4A Newcomer of the Year.
Bryton Bertrand, West Plains, Inf.-P, 6-1, Sr.
Bertrand has been a two-way linchpin for West Plains since the school opened in the fall of 2022. He led the Wolves at the plate, batting .388 with four homers and 26 RBIs last season as a first team 4-4A pick. Bertrand was also a solid left-handed pitcher, posting a 4-0 mark with a 1.02 ERA last season.
Kalub Ramirez, Hereford, Inf.-P, 5-8, Jr.
Ramirez has already achieved something of a mythical status in the area as he committed to the University of Texas as a freshman. He was limited last year due to injuries, but in 10 games he batted .500 and drove in eight runs while scoring nine. Ramirez was 2-1 on the mound with 35 strikeouts and a 1.90 ERA.
Brae Silva, Randall, Inf.-P, 5-8, Sr.
One of the most versatile players for a Randall team which went unbeaten in 4-4A, Silva was a first team 4-4A selection. Silva batted .295 with 16 RBIs and was a threat on the base paths with 10 stolen bases. He was perfect on the mound, going 7-0 with a miniscule 0.78 ERA.
Charlie McKinney, Tascosa, Inf.-P, 6-0, Sr.
A standout who was the 3-5A two-way player of the year, McKinney hit .333 last season in addition to being Tascosa’s ace on the mound, where he won four games for the Rebels and struck out 65 batters.
Jacob Burris, Canyon, OF-P, 5-11, Sr.
Burris spent most of his time in the outfield last season for the Eagles, batting .295 with 36 RBIs as he was named a first-team 4-4A selection. But he was a not so secret weapon on the mound, posting a 4-1 record and pitching some key innings in the region finals against Stephenville.
Max Rodriguez, Bushland, Inf.-OF, 5-11, Sr.
A spark plug at the top of the lineup for the District 1-3A champions, Rodriguez batted .410 with 31 RBIs and stole 20 bases for the Falcons as he was named a first-team All-District selection and will be heavily counted on to produce offense again this season.
Ethan Bentley, West Plains, P-Inf., 5-11, Sr.
Bentley was 4-4A’s pitcher of the year last season out of a group of strong pitchers for the region quarterfinalists, going 8-1 with a 1.80 ERA. When not pitching, he was a force offensively as well, batting .350 with 20 RBIs while stealing 16 bases.
Dylan Ray, Randall, OF, 5-9, Sr.
Ray’s name might be more familiar as a running back, but on the diamond the speedy outfielder produced as a first team 4-4A selection, batting .321 with two homers and 29 RBIs last season while being a threat on the base paths with 12 stolen bases.
Caden Bird, Dalhart, OF-P, 5-11, So.
Son of head coach Chris Bird, the younger Bird showed he was no nepo pick as a freshman on the varsity last season. Caden batted .491 as an outfielder, and on the mound recorded 43 strikeouts in only 23 innings.
Clayton Norrell, Amarillo High, P-Inf., 6-0, Sr.
Norrell established himself as Amarillo High’s ace last season, leading the Sandies to a District 3-5A championship by posting a 9-3 record with a 1.82 ERA and was named the district MVP. He played first base when he wasn’t pitching.
Azriel Vargas, Sunray, Inf.-P, 5-10, Sr.
Vargas returns as one of the more versatile players at the small school level. As a junior last year, Vargas broke out being named the CO-District 1-2A MVP hitting an impressive .440 on top of throwing 44 innings on the hill racking up 55 strikeouts.
Briggs Satterfield, Gruver, P-Inf., 5-11, Jr.
Satterfield is as much a quarterback of the baseball team as he is on the gridiron. Satterfield was called upon to do it all last year earning him Co-District MVP honors. Satterfield was not only the ace of the pitching staff but hit over .300 at the dish.
Mason Sims, Clarendon, OF-P, 6-4, Sr.
The do-it-all athlete was a big compliment to a very talented Broncos team a year ago. Sims returns hoping to capitalize off a season where he hit .317 with 15 stolen bases earning the now senior first team All-District honors.
Lincoln Pohlmeier, Nazareth, Inf.-P, 5-9, Soph.
Nazareth has a plethora of talent returning and like what tradition has become is expected to be contenders for a deep playoff push at the Class 1A level. Pohlmeier is a big reason why after a stellar freshman year hitting .365 with 13 stolen bases and had a fielding percentage of .957. For that great season, Pohlmeier was rewarded with the District Newcomer of the Year.
