Here’s a look at the Borger Bulldogs heading into the 2024 football season. Take a listen to head coach Dane Hamrick in the video at the link above.

2023 resume

Head coach: Dane Hamrick, second year at Borger, 4-7. Second year overall.
2023 Record: 4-7 overall, 1-3 in District 2-4A Division II. Class 4A Division II bi-district finalist.

Returning starters 

Offense: 6
Defense: 9
Season opener: 7 p.m. vs. Bushland, Friday, Aug. 30.

Players to watch 

Tyler Brooks, 6-foot, 185-pounds, WR-DB, Sr.

Brooks came on strong for head coach Dane Hamrick last season and is expected to have an even bigger year in 2024. Brooks made significant plays on both sides making 19 catches for 411 yards with four touchdowns. Defensively, Brooks made 61 tackles with two interceptions.

Mason Mangum, 6-foot-2, 205-pounds, TE-LB, Sr. 

Mangum is going to have a role in the offense, however, his services last year came on the defensive side. Playing at linebacker Mangum made 84 tackles, eight for a loss, with three sacks.

Maverick Lopez, 6-foot, 255-pounds, OL-DL, Sr. 

Lopez is a big body that takes up space and has great mobility that will be a force on both sides of the line for the Bulldogs. As a junior, Lopez graded out at 92 percent with 13 pancakes with six knockdowns. Defensively, Lopez racked up 38 tackles with six sacks.
