Rebels represents: Tascosa stepped up to snag a big 19-14 road win at Abilene High. The Rebels saved an otherwise tumultuous Week 1 for Amarillo ISD schools. Amarillo High, Caprock and Palo Duro all lost by a combined 121-28.
3-4A DI stands tall:Canyon, Dumas, Hereford and Pampa made it a clean sweep for its sound district. The Harvesters had an dog fight from rival Borger, however, the Eagles, Whitefaces and Demons outscored their opponents 140-49.

Close calls:Canadian and Bushland saw double-digit leads shrink in an instant Friday night. The Falcons opened up a 20-0 advantage on youthful Childress, only to see the Bobcats rally to cut the gap at 27-22 late in the fourth. Bushland held on for a 29-22 victory. The No. 3-ranked Wildcats were also tested by West Texas High. A 28-6 lead trimmed to 28-22 before pulling away for a 36-22 win.
Points O’ Plenty: Bovina, Friona, Gruver, Panhandle, Stratford and Vega put up the points in Week 1. Each team surpassed the 60 point mark in their respective wins with the Panthers and Mustangs 66 points being the highest output.

Six-Man reigns in Jayton:The Texas Panhandle had an outstanding showing at the Jayton Classic on Saturday. Especially District 1-1A Division I, which went 3-0. Defending champ McLean knocked off Blum, 65-38, No. 3-ranked White Deer drubbed Spur 72-28 and Valley blanked Morton, 50-0.
