Hallie Hawthorne, Pampa softball, Sr.

On the diamond: Hawthorne and the Harvesters are on fire after two lopsided victories over Hereford 20-0, and Perryton 26-1, to stay on top and unbeaten in District 4-4A. Against Hereford, Hawthorne was unstoppable going 4-for-4 at the plate with two home runs and seven RBIs. She also was strong in the circle throwing all five innings allowing only one hit with 13 strikeouts to get the win. In the win against Perryton, Hawthorne was again superb driving in an RBI and scoring three times. On the season, the senior third baseman is batting .372 with three homers and has driven in 19 RBIs.

Coach Dottie Hawthorne: “I’m proud of Hallie’s performance of late. She’s really stepped up this year and leads the team. She leads the infield being at third base and is always uplifting. Her confidence has grown tremendously, and it’s helped her offense. She’s seeing the ball and hitting it really well. She’s always consistent and is the life of the party. Hallie is always happy and a bright spot on the team.”

Hawthorne: “It was a crazy week. I didn’t expect for us to put up that many runs, but I think that shows how well we’re playing right now. From last year and even going into the beginning of this year I feel like my offense has really improved and I’m seeing the ball well. I think confidence has a lot to do with that. I’m playing with a lot of confidence and trying to lead by example every time I’m on the field. I just want to be a great teammate.”
