Brooklyn Garcia, West Plains volleyball Sr.
On the court: The West Plains middle blocker had a tremendous week keeping the Lady Wolves a game back of Randall of first place in a very competitive District 4-4A.
In sweeps over Pampa and Dumas last week, Garcia was outstanding on the floor on both sides of the ball. Against the Demonettes on Saturday, Garcia led the team with 12 kills, four digs with a block and an ace.
On the season, Garcia has totaled 157 kills with 85 digs, 19 blocks and nine aces.
Coach Kaitlyn Cornelius: “I think Brooklyn has done a great job of stepping up for us this year. She’s worked so hard to get through injuries and she’s been very reliable. She’s aggressive on offense and valuable on both sides of the ball. I think her consistency and leadership roles also gets us out of tough situations. She reads the court well and she’s a student of the game. She’s always comes in ready to work and she’s the ultimate teammate.”
Garcia: “I think I’ve grown a lot from last year. I play with a lot more consistency and my unforced errors are extremely down. I’m learning how to place the ball and that’s helping me get more kills. I just want to keep improving every time I step on the court and keep helping my team win games and see if we can make a deep playoff run. I love the chemistry and the confidence we are playing really well right now.”
