District 4-4A
Dumas downs Canyon
The Dumas Demonettes opened up District 4-4A in a big way by getting a clutch 7-2 win against rival Canyon at home on Tuesday afternoon.
This game was nip and tuck through the first five innings with Dumas leading 3-2 until the Demonettes exploded behind a four-run sixth inning.
In that sixth inning, Sania Reyes broke the game wide open for Dumas with a base clearing double that plated three runs putting the Demonettes up by a comfortable 6-2 advantage. Reyes finished the game 2-for-3 with those three RBIs. Teammate Yaritza Vargas was 3-for-4 including an RBI double and Madi Zubia went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs driven in.
Star Cortes did her job in the circle going all seven innings, scattering seven hits with two strikeouts.
Canyon’s Amber Bertoni and Ashlynn Reyna each had RBI despite the loss.
Dumas moves to 15-4-1 overall and 1-0 in district play. Canyon falls to 9-9 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Pampa takes down West Plains
Pampa got things going on the right foot in the District 4-4A opener beating West Plains at home by an 8-3 count on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Harvesters are now 1-0 in 4-4A and 6-6 overall. The Lady Wolves drop to 0-1 in district and 5-13-2 overall.
Pampa standout Kynleigh Kirby did damage with her bat and in the circle to lead the way. At the dish, Kirby delivered going 2-for-3 including a three-run double. In the circle, Kirby was stellar tossing a complete game, racking up eight strikeouts without allowing a run.
Teammate Carsyn Hunt went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Briley Daniels was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs driven in.
Borger edges Randall Â
Borger held off a late rally but was able to get a big District 4-4A opening win at home against Randall, 5-4, on Tuesday.
The Lady Bulldogs built a 5-1 lead only to see the Lady Raiders cut it to 5-4 by the top of the seventh, however, Borger was able to hold on for the victory.
Natalie Chisum worked 1.1 innings to nail down the save for Borger, as Kynlee Mitchell got the win working four innings, allowing a run with a strikeout.
Borger had five extra base-hits in the contest with Keyla Knoll producing two doubles with an RBI. Chisum also helped her cause with a double and an RBI with teammate Kendall Downs going 2-for-2 that included a double and an RBI.
Despite the loss, Randall’s Kaley Wiseman was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Teammate Emma Cuellar was also big in the win going 2-for-3 with an RBI of her own.
Borger is now 9-11 on the year and 1-0 in District 4-4A. Randall drops to 10-10 overall and 0-1 in district.
Hereford hustles past PerrytonÂ
Hereford had no issues going on a long road trip to Perryton grabbing an 18-2 run-rule win on Tuesday.
The Lady Whitefaces climb back to 9-9 overall on the year and start off 1-0 in District 4-4A. The Rangerettes are now 3-9 overall and 0-1 in district.
Izzy Enriquez picked up the win racking up five strikeouts. On the offensive side, Hereford’s Alexis Riojas had an RBI triple, Aniah Mendoza plated two runs on a single and Lexi Vallejo added two RBIs.
District 1-2A
Sunray knocks off Clarendon in walk-off fashion
The Sunray Lady Bobcats picked up a dramatic 6-4 walk-off victory against Clarendon to open up District 1-2 play at home on Tuesday evening.
With the game tied, 4-4, in the bottom of the seventh Enya Diaz delivered in a big way with a game-winning double to bring home the game-winning run. Diaz was 2-for-4 on the afternoon with two RBIs and was one of four players to double for Sunray.
Senior standout Mia Gray was not only 1-for-3 with an RBI but was strong in the circle throwing all seven innings, scattering 10 hits, giving up four runs but did get an eye-opening 13 strikeouts to earn the victory.
The Lady Bobcats improve to a perfect 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in district. Clarendon falls to 11-2 overall and 0-1 in district.
Sanford-Fritch run-rules Booker
An 11-run third inning was the difference in an 11-1 run-rule win for Sanford-Fritch against Booker during a District 1-2A opener on Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles improve to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in the league while Booker is now 0-4 overall and 0-2 in district.
Kalynn Roberts had a monster afternoon for Fritch as the center fielder went 2-for-3 at the dish with a double driving in three runs. Teammate Abbygail Murphy was key as well knocking two doubles to the gap that scored two runs and Bryleigh Carr got in on the fun with a 2-for-3 day with a double and two RBIs.
Emma Wade picked up the win throwing 4.2 innings, allowing only two hits with six K’s.
Claude handles GruverÂ
The Claude Lady Stangs got the start they wanted to district play with an 11-4 win against Gruver on Monday.
Claude wasted no time putting runs on the board scoring six in the first two innings to take a commanding 6-0 lead and never looking back.
Alison Stone not only struck out 10 Lady Hounds in six innings of work to get the win, but Stone also helped her cause at the plate with a 2-for-2 day that saw a triple and two RBIs.
Teammate Caroline Haskell did her job against Gruver pitching going 3-for-4 with a triple and drove in two runs and also scored two runs.
Claude is now 4-6 overall and 1-0 in District 1-2A. Gruver is 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.
