Dumas rolls West Plains, takes over first place of 4-4A
Dumas not only got a measure of revenge from a loss to West Plains during the first round of District 4-4A play, but the Demonettes were able to grab complete control of first place in the league thanks to a 9-2 win against the Lady Wolves at home on Tuesday afternoon.
Dumas takes the outright lead in 4-4A moving to 7-2 and 21-6 overall. West Plains (11-15-2) drops a game back of the Demonettes falling to 6-3.
This battle was a pitching duel to start with the game remaining scoreless through the first five innings. In the bottom of the fifth things changed in a hurry thanks to the Dumas bats coming alive for a six-run inning.
Leading 1-0, Star Cortes doubled that plated two runs putting the Demonettes up 3-0. A few batters later with the score now 4-0, Lisbeth Quiroz highlighted the rally with a two-run inside the park homer that saw Dumas now taking a commanding 6-0 advantage.
Teammate Madi Zubia also did her job at the plate going 2-for-3 with a long ball of her own finishing the game with two RBIs. Not only did Cortes have the key double, but she also pitched a complete game giving up two earned runs with a pair of strikeouts to earn the win.
Pampa rallies to stun RandallÂ
In another wild affair that District 4-4A has become accustomed to this season, Pampa rallied with a four-run ninth inning to get a thrilling 11-10 walk-off win against Randall at home on Tuesday afternoon.
Pampa had a 7-4 lead going into the top of the seventh only to see the Lady Raiders catch fire plating six runs in the top half of their final at-bat highlighted by a Kaley Wiseman two-run home run to tie the game at seven, then a big-time three-run bomb from Miley Brown giving Randall a 10-7 lead going into the home half of the seventh.
Down to their final three outs, the Lady Harvesters answered. Kynleigh Kirby started the comeback with a solo homer cutting the deficit 10-8. Pampa then tied the game, 10-10, on a two-run single from Karina Gonzales.
The exciting rally was completed in walk-off fashion moments later on a Carsyn Hunt single to center field that scored Ella Hudson as Pampa went home with the 11-10 victory.
Kirby ate up Randall pitching with a monster day at the dish going 3-for-4 with all three hits leaving the yard finishing with four RBIs and she scored three times. Teammate Cassidy Stanhope complimented Kirby going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Randall’s Lauren Garcia had quite the afternoon with a 5-for-5 day including a homer and two RBIs Wiseman was 2-for-4 that saw the two-run home run.
Pampa (11-9 overall) stays a game back of Dumas at 6-3 in district. Randall (15-14) drops to 5-4 in the league.
Canyon crushes PerrytonÂ
Canyon bounced back from a loss to Dumas on Friday with a 16-0 shutout against Perryton at home on Tuesday.
This game was originally schedule to be played at Perryton, however, due to wet field conditions, the contest was moved to the Double Eagle Park.
Canyon improves to 14-12 overall and 5-4 in district. Perryton (3-17) is still looking for its first district win dropping to 0-9.
Amber Bertoni and Ava Johnson eached homered for Canyon. Landri Jay went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs driven in.
In the other district clash on Tuesday, Borger snapped a five-game losing skid beating Hereford 6-2.
Cynlin Saxon was a perfect 4-for-4 for the Lady Bulldogs at the dish including a solo homer as she finished the game with three RBIs.
District 1-3AÂ
Bushland keeps on soaringÂ
Bushland ended the first half of District 1-3A with an unblemished record as the Lady Falcons continue to soar past opponents with ease.
On Tuesday, the Lady Falcons stacked up the runs in a hurry beating Tulia 28-3.
Bushland didn’t waste any time plating 10 runs in the first inning followed by a nine-run second to go up 19-0 and put the rest of the game on cruise control.
Chayney Snelson ended her day with a pair of homers and was 5-for-5 with six RBIs. Abby Howell, Brylee Adams, Kylee Jordan and Tatum Ainsworth all get in on the home run fun for Bushland.
Adams also did her part in the circle locking up Lady Hornet hitts throwing all five innings with 10 K’s.
Bushland (19-4-1) hits the midway point of 1-3A play at 5-0. Tulia (14-10-2) is now 3-2.
In the other two district games, River Road handled Canadian 24-0, and Dalhart downed Dimmitt 14-4.
District 1-2A
Clarendon edges SunrayÂ
In a key District 1-2A game, the Clarendon Lady Broncos held off Sunray for a big 8-7 victory at home on Tuesday.
The Lady Broncos trailed 7-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth but found their way out of trouble thanks to a big four-run inning to take an 8-7 lead. Clarendon was able to hold off the Lady Bobcats in the seventh to secure the victory.
Clarendon (20-3-1) is now 5-1 in district while Sunray (11-2) drops to 5-2.
Sanford-Fritch stayed a half a game ahead of Clarendon for the league lead beating Booker 23-3. The Lady Eagles (15-6) move to 6-1 in 1-2A. Booker (2-9) is still looking for its first district win falling to 0-6.
Emily Wade was 2-for-4 for Fritch with a homer and a double tallying four RBIs.
Gruver also found the win column on Tuesday downing Claude 13-3. The Lady Hounds Jacque Munoz feasted on Lady Stang pitching going 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and finished with an RBI.
The Lady Hounds improve to 4-5 in 1-2A and 5-7 overall. Claude drops to 6-15 overall and 1-5 in the league.
