Tascosa takes down Caprock

After an early open to District 3-5A play last week, girls basketball teams resumed league action Tuesday with a full schedule before the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday.

The Tascosa Lady Rebels had a strong showing at the Frenship Tournament over the weekend and took that momentum to take care of Caprock in a very convincing way cruising to a 67-11 victory Tuesday at the Tascosa Activity Center.

The Lady Rebels opened the game hot going up 19-4 by the end of the first quarter.

Behind a steady offense and lockdown defense, Tascosa then pulled away going on an unprecedented 35-0 run holding the Lady Longhorns scoreless for the entire second quarter and late into the third before Caprock made a bucket at the 1:46 mark to break the drought.

Tascosa’s Deveah Johnson finished with a game-high 17 points to lead the Lady Rebels with teammate Nic’Kiyah Fisher adding 13.

Tascosa (10-1 overall) is off to a 2-0 start in District 3-5A. Caprock (2-7) drops to 0-2.
