Three WTAMU Lady Buff volleyball players earn All-American honors

Three West Texas A&M Lady Buff volleyball players were recognized by the American Volleyball Coache Association by earning All-American honors Wednesday.

Emma Becker, Bryli Contreras and Taytum Stow were celebrated for their efforts on the volleyball court as the trio was named to the AVCA Division II All-America Team.

Becker claimed first team honors to pick up her second All-American accolade from the AVCA while Contreras and Stow were named to the honorable mention team.

Becker registered a standout junior campaign for the Lone Star Conference champion Lady Buffs as she led the team in kills (343) and points (381.0) as she averages 3.46 kills per set for an attack percentage of .295. She registered six aces, five assists, 141 digs and 59 total blocks to average 3.46 points per set.

Becker had double-doubles during the campaign while registering 10 plus kills in 19 of the 31 matches for the Lady Buffs.

Becker was named a first team All-Lone Star Conference selection as well as a member of the LSC All-Tournament team and the NCAA South Central Regional All-Tournament team.

Stow, the two-time Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year, dominated in the middle of the court for the Lady Buffs during her junior campaign as the Hereford graduate registered 209 kills on 440 attempts with 49 errors for an attack percentage of .364 to go along with a team-best 138 total blocks to average 1.27 per set for a total of 296.5 points on the season.

Stow ranks 21st in all of Division II Volleyball in blocks per set (1.27) while sitting 17th in total blocks (138.0) and 22nd in attack percentage (.364). She was named to the South Central Region All-Tournament Team as well as the All-Lone Star Conference First Team, leading the Lady Buffs to an unbeaten league record and the program’s 22nd LSC Championship.

Contreras was a force in the back row for the LSC Champion Lady Buffs during her time in Canyon as the senior libero has a team-best 526 digs to average 4.78 per set to go along with 42 service aces which ranked sixth in the LSC.

The Canyon graduate has registered 1,851 career digs with 1,528 of them coming in a Lady Buff uniform to rank 10th on West Texas A&M’s career digs list. Contreras was a Second Team All-LSC selection as well as a member of the LSC All-Tournament Team.
