Amarillo High stays hot in 3-5A
Amarillo High stayed unbeaten through District 3-5A getting two more wins this past week.
The Lady Sandies dominated Plainview 11-2 on the road Tuesday, then returned home to get a thrilling walk-off 6-5 win against rival Caprock at the Lady Sandies Softball Complex on Friday afternoon.
AHS is off to a solid 13-6-2 start to the season and more importantly 4-0 in district play.
On Friday, Caprock led 5-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh. Mykaela Samuels tied the game up 5-5 on a double that plated Brylee Baker. Moments later, Ava Bowers finished off the comeback with a double to centerfield scoring Jaymi Mitchell who was pinch running for Samuels.

Bowers was 2-for-4 on the day including the heroic two RBIs. Mykaela Samuels was 2-for-3 with two doubles and tossed 4.2 innings before getting a no decision. Caprock’s Grace Morales was strong in the circle a complete game giving up five earned runs but did have 12 strikeouts.
On Tuesday, AHS scored six runs in the first three innings to set the tone against the Lady Bulldogs. Samuels feasted on Plainview pitching going 4-for-5 with a double and a triple to finish with four RBIs. Baker was 2-for-3 including a double and a home run finishing with two RBIs.
Caprock did get a 12-7 win earlier in the week downing Lubbock Monterey on Tuesday. The Lady Longhorns are now 2-2 in the league and 6-5-1 overall. Morales mauled Monterey slamming a three-run home run to center on top of going 4-for-4 with six total RBIs and scoring three runs.
In other District 3-5A action, Lubbock-Cooper was unbeaten this past week beating Lubbock Coronado 14-1 and Plainview 13-4. Tascosa fell to Lubbock High 10-2 on Tuesday then the Lady Westerners held off Lubbock Monterey 6-5 on Friday.

District 4-4A
Dumas is off and running in district
The Dumas Demonettes have picked up where they left off last year in District 4-4A opening with a pair of victories beating Hereford and Perryton by a combined 40-1 on Wednesday and Friday.
Dumas (17-3 overall, 2-0 in district) opened league play run-ruling Hereford 18-1 on Wednesday. The Demonettes then followed that effort up with a 22-0 shutout against Perryton on Friday.
Against the Lady Whitefaces (0-2 in district) Aaliyah Chairez was 3-for-4 with a triple tallying five RBIs. Madi Zubia was 2-for-3 with a solo homer and Star Cortes threw a complete game with five strikeouts.
In the Perryton win, Zubia had the game of her life. At the dish, Zubia was 3-for-4 including a grand slam to finish with five RBIs. In the circle, she was equally impressive allowing only one hit over five innings with 10 strikeouts.
District quick hits
Pampa has also started 2-0 in district action getting a 9-5 win against Canyon and a commanding 14-3 victory over West Plains. On top of being unbeaten in district, the Lady Harvesters are 10-2 overall. Cambree Dyer was on fire going a combined 5-for-8 in the two wins with four doubles and a total of eight RBIs.
Borger got off on the right foot Monday stunning West Plains in a slugfest 17-11. The Lady Bulldogs broke the game open piling up eight runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth to get the win. Cylin Saxon was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a homer and two RBIs. Teammate Kadi Wise complimented with a 4-for-4 afternoon including an inside the park home run to end the contest with a pair of runs driven in. Borger did fall to Randall on Friday 13-3. The Lady Bulldogs are 6-13 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Randall is right where they want to be after beating Perryton 16-2 to open District 4-4A on Monday and then getting a 13-3 home win over Borger. The Lady Raiders (16-5) are 2-0 to open the league. In those wins, Jazlynn Quigly threw two complete games totaling 21 strikeouts.
Following the loss to Pampa, Canyon bounced back by blanking Hereford 10-0 on Friday. Bayleigh Burks highlighted the win with a three-run homer. Brooklynne Garrett tossed five scoreless innings with five K’s.
