Nazareth sweeps season series from rival Happy

It wasn’t as dramatic as their first meeting where Nazareth used a final second shot from Kayle Rogers to defeat Happy, however, the result was the same.

The Swifts were able to get the season sweep of the Cowboys and take a step closer towards a District 3-1A championship by holding off Happy 48-39 on Tuesday night at the Cowboys Gym.

The Swifts (16-11 overall) stay unbeaten in district at 8-0 while Happy (18-6) falls to 7-2 in the league.

Nazareth controlled this ballgame for most of the night. The Swifts were in control up 12-6 after one and 19-10 at the break. In the third quarter is where Nazareth took over going up by a commanding 36-16 after going on a 17-6 eight-minute run. Happy didn’t stop fighting and was able to battle back but the rally fell short in the fourth.

Kayle Rogers had a solid game for Nazareth scoring a team-high 14 points with Caysen High adding eight. Happy’s CJ Moore went for a game-high 18 despite the defeat.
