
Nazareth sweeps season series from rival HappyÂ
It wasn’t as dramatic as their first meeting where Nazareth used a final second shot from Kayle Rogers to defeat Happy, however, the result was the same.
The Swifts were able to get the season sweep of the Cowboys and take a step closer towards a District 3-1A championship by holding off Happy 48-39 on Tuesday night at the Cowboys Gym.
The Swifts (16-11 overall) stay unbeaten in district at 8-0 while Happy (18-6) falls to 7-2 in the league.
Nazareth controlled this ballgame for most of the night. The Swifts were in control up 12-6 after one and 19-10 at the break. In the third quarter is where Nazareth took over going up by a commanding 36-16 after going on a 17-6 eight-minute run. Happy didn’t stop fighting and was able to battle back but the rally fell short in the fourth.
Kayle Rogers had a solid game for Nazareth scoring a team-high 14 points with Caysen High adding eight. Happy’s CJ Moore went for a game-high 18 despite the defeat.

Tuesday’s top performers
Zach brown of Amarillo High had the hot-hand knocking down six 3-pointers as he lit up Lubbock Monterey for 30 points to lift the Sandies past the Plainsman 72-44.
Farwell’s Braddock Foster had quite the first half scoring 37 of his game-high 41 points in the opening two quarter during the Steers 101-39 route of Lockney. Foster was unstoppable going 15-of-21 on the night and an incredible 7-of-11 from beyond the arc. He was also 4-for-4 at the charity stripe.
Palo Duro teammates Victor Juarez and Cuda Clayton combined for 53 points in the Dons 93-35 thumping of Lubbock High. Juarez finished with a game-high 29 points behind four 3-pointers. Clayton also hit four 3-pointers and finished with 26 points.
Bushland’s Holt Humphries drained a 3-pointer with eight seconds left that helped the Falcons beat Canadian 41-40 at home for a key District 1-3A win Tuesday. Humphries finished the game with 11 points.
West Texas High’s Cayde Winters continued his hot play pouring in a game-high 25 points in a Comanches 48-42 victory at Spearman.
Tayesen Combs kept Randall unbeaten in District 4-4A dropping in a team-high 22 points in a hard fought 54-48 win at West Plains.
Dalhart’s Maddix Blanco and Talon Garcia scored 16 points apiece that was enough for the Golden Wolves to defeat Childress 70-56.
Brix Machen had a couple of highlight dunks to go with 23 points during Hereford’s 73-30 win against Borger.
Sunray earned its first District 1-2A win on the year downing Sanford-Fritch 48-41. Connor Petereit was a big reason why scoring 14 points.
