Randall edges CanyonÂ
Randall was able to do gain some ground in the district race by holding off rival Canyon thanks to a 56-54 win on the home court of the House of Doom on Tuesday night.
The Raiders keep an unblemished record in District 4-4A at 10-0 while improving to 25-3 overall. The Raiders now hold a comfortable three-game lead over Canyon which drops to 7-3 in the league and 15-10 overall.
This game was close throughout with the Canyon upset bid falling just short down the stretch. KJ Thomas did what he does each and every night scoring a game-high 22 points to lead the Raiders. Taysen Combs also came in clutch with 16. Canyon’s Gage Lunsford and Trace Wilson each put up 14 points despite the loss.
Bushland rallies past River RoadÂ
In a battle of crosstown rivals, the Bushland Falcons put together a strong second half run that was enough to pull away from upset-minded River Road 44-33 at River Road High School on Tuesday night.
The two teams struggled on the offensive end in the first half with the Falcons clinging to an 18-17 halftime advantage. However, the second half was a different story as the Falcons found momentum going on a 17-6 third quarter run to help soar past the Wildcats.
Tagg Thrash was key in the win for Bushland scoring a team-high 15 points. Jenner King followed with nine. Lui Aguilera led the Wildcats with 15 points and four rebounds.
Tuesday’s top performers
Palo Duro bounced back from a loss to Amarillo High last week by getting a season sweep of Tascosa in a 70-46 blowout victory on Tuesday. Victor Juarez and Alain Nziza combined for 51 of the Dons points with Juarez going for 26 and Nziza scoring 25 points.
Hereford picked up a huge District 4-4A win by stunning West Plains 72-58. Tyi Duque led the charge for the Whitefaces posting a team-high 22 points.
Julian Alonzo of Pampa poured in 18 points to help the Harvesters dismantle Borger 64-33.
Connor Miller kept Canadian unbeaten in District 1-3A by racking up 19 points in a 73-49 victory over Tulia.
Childress bounced back from a loss on Friday to Lubbock Roosevelt with a huge 68-56 home win against Idalou on Tuesday. Billy Moore was superb in the victory scoring 19 points for the Bobcats.
Booker’s Hagen Chisum dropped 30 points to guide the Kiowas to their first district win 61-52 over Sanford-Fritch. The Eagles had beaten the Kiowas by 23 points in the first meeting.
Braylon Tarver of Wellington tallied 18 points which was good enough to blast the Skyrockets past Wheeler 52-49.
Hayden Drumm went off for 30 points in the Texline Tornadoes win against Pringle-Morse 110-29.
Wildorado’s Logan Mason posted 20 points in a 97-5 win over Channing.
Ascension Academy ran past Lubbock All Saints 60-39 on Tuesday to stay unbeaten at 19-0 overall and claimed the program’s first ever District 1-2A championship. Freshman Jaxson Richards continued his amazing year dropping in 23 points as the Cardinals are now a perfect 8-0 in district play.
