McLean knocks off White Deer

The McLean Tigers continue to play with something to prove staying tied for first place in District 2-1A thanks to a decisive 56-27 road win at White Deer on Tuesday night.

The Tigers improve to 13-5 on the season and are now a perfect 4-0 in District 2-1A keeping pace with Groom (9-5, 4-0).

The Bucks fall to 8-9 on the year and 3-2 in league action.

Collin Alston had another fantastic night for McLean dropping in a game-high 27 points. Teammate Elijah Fite added seven.

Holy Cross rolls by San Jacinto 

Holy Cross Catholic Acadamy continues to turn heads getting another impressive win this time taking down crosstown rival San Jacinto Christian Academy 79-46 during a TAPPS District 1-2A clash on Tuesday night.

The Mustangs are off to an 18-2 start to the year and are all alone atop the district standings at 4-0. The Patriots slip to 9-14 overall and 0-4.

Holy Cross had plenty of players do damage but none more than Willy Atak on Tuesday. Atak was a menace against SJCA putting together an incredible night scoring 27 points to go with 11 boards for a double-double while adding nine steals with four blocks.

Teammate Kon Deng followed with 23 points and Mou Tong poured in 20.

Tuesday’s top performers 

  • Randall rolled past Pampa 88-45 to stay unbeaten in District 4-4A. Tayesen Combs played a key role in the Raiders victory racking up a game-high 33 points.
  • Caprock’s Braiden Johnson and Andrew Apodaca combined for 25 points to get the Longhorns their first district win beating Lubbock High 57-41. Johnson scored a team-best 13 followed by Apodaca’s 12.
  • Valley puy on an offensive display in a 70-29 victory against Patton Springs during a District 8-1A opener Tuesday. The brother duo of Corbin and Kanyon Taylor led the charge combining for 41 points. Corbin poured in a game-high 23 points followed by Kanyon’s 18.
  • Jaemon Palacios dropped in 17 points to help Tascosa defeat Plainview 65-57.
  • Tulia closed out non-district play breezing by Bovina 95-39. Zaiden Jalomo sparked the blowout win with 23 points to go with six steals.
  • Ethan Gonzales and Tristen Smith each scored 15 points helping Hereford get by Perryton 52-46.
  • Spearman knocked off Sanford-Fritch 59-27 behind Hector Diaz’s 27-point effort.
  • Groom’s Davis Babcock scored 13 points that was big during the Tigers 42-37 victory against Shamrock.
