3 things that happened this week

Tascosa takes care of business

The Tascosa Lady Rebels played with laser sharp focused getting a lopsided 75-46 win at Plainview on Wednesday night.

The victory was also a measure of revenge for the Lady Rebels, who fell to the Lady Bulldogs 54-48 in the District 3-5A opener on Jan. 6. Junior Forward Avery Carter had a big night pouring in 20 points as one of four players in double digits. Freshman Devaeh Johnson continues to be a factor scoring 14 points as did Aniayah Brackens. Daizjia Oajes chipped in 10. Tascosa moves to 3-1 in district and 23-4 overall. Plainview falls to 12-9, 3-2.

Childress stuns Idalou in thrilling fashion

Childress guard Cameran Daniel knocked down a 3-pointer with only three seconds remaining in the game to send the Lady Bobcats to a thrilling 42-41 win over rival Idalou.

The Lady Bobcats trailed most of the night but rallied back from a six-point third quarter deficit. Daniel finished with a team-high 11 points, followed by Aspen Lomax’s 10. Childress (20-8) is now tied for the District 2-3A lead with Idalou (13-9) at 5-1.

This week’s top performers

Randall’s Sadie Sanchez dropped in a career-high and eye-popping 46 points during the Lady Raiders 66-43 win at Dumas.

Berlin Bartlett of Pampa tallied a game-high 18 points that helped the Lady Harvesters knock off Hereford at home 52-44.

Despite a loss at Bovina it’s hard to ignore the performance from Highland Park standout Cassie McClurg. McClurg scored a career-high 37 points and scored all but four points for the Lady Hornets in a 51-41 defeat.
