Bushland holds off Dalhart in 1-3A clashÂ
Bushland capped off an incredible week with another thrilling victory this time at the hands of Dalhart at the Falcons Gym on Friday.
The Lady Falcons already made noise Tuesday night handing No. 1-ranked Canadian its first loss 55-44. On Friday, Bushland had the magic once again surviving the Lady Wolves in the final seconds with a thrilling 42-41 victory.
The Lady Falcons (17-13 overall) have now moved into a second-place tie with Dalhart (25-6) at 6-2 in District 1-3A with one game left in the regular season.
Friday’s matchup came down to the final seconds. Leading 42-41, Dalhart had a shot go in and out at the buzzer as the Lady Falcons were able to hold on for the dramatic victory.
Bushland’s Charley Spinks was the spark scoring a game-high 16 points. Teammate Berklee Billington had another solid effort adding 13 points. Dalhart’s Kammi Maddox and Joie Read each scored 11.
Friday’s top performers
Jaylee Moss paced the Canyon Lady Eagles with 15 points during a 40-31 win over Hereford to help Canyon win the outright District 4-4A championship. Tate Lombard was also celebrated after the victory for winning his 400th career game as a head coach.
White Deer’s Faith Jackson poured in 15 points that helped the Does hand McLean its first district loss 54-43. Despite the defeat, Lady Tigers senior Kasidy Russell finished with 21 points putting her over 2,000 points for her stellar career.
Farwell’s Bella Jaime knocked down eight 3-pointers finishing with 28 points in a Lady Blue 91-24 victory over Bovina.
Perryton guard Aubrey Daugherty couldn’t miss knocking down six 3-pointers finishing with a game-high 21 points in a Rangerette 64-44 win against Hereford.
Addi Jernigan of Shamrock played excellent basketball on both ends of the floor during the Lady Irish’s 49-30 home win against Groom. Jernigan led Shamrock with 21 points while adding eight steals on defense.
Valley standout Trinity Schlueter had another superb performance registering a game-high 26 points during a 72-21 win against Motley County.
Averi Adams posted a game-high 22 points as the Canadian Lady Cats bounced back from their first loss on the year on Tuesday by taming Tulia 80-27.
Addison Bell and Madison Braden combined for 36 points during Stratford’s 79-22 win against West Texas High. Bell scored a game-best 19 points followed by Braden’s 17.
