Jenner King, Bushland basketball, Jr.
On the court: Though Bushland was defeated in the regional semifinals against Iowa Park on Tuesday, King was still a catalyst to leading the Falcons to a District 1-3A championship and two huge postseason wins last week against Littlefield and Brownfield.
Against the Wildcats, King poured in 18 points to go with five boards. In the big victory against Brownfield on Friday, King registered a double-double thanks to 16 points to go with 11 boards. On the season, King averaged 17 points a game adding four assists a night with three steals.
Coach Connor Copley: “We went through a lot of adversity this year. We had a lot of injuries and had to have guys step up. Jenner was one of those guys that came through for us every time he stepped on the floor. He’s a player that can score and create scoring with his defense. He does absolutely everything for this team. He’s always positive and plays with heart and determination.”
King: “We had a ton of injuries, and we didn’t start the basketball year off great. Everyone came together and started figuring it out during district and we were able to win a district title. I feel I’ve gotten better at controlling the game and defending. I came into a bigger role on the court and a leadership role. I thought that meant a lot that my coaches trusted me.”
