
Bushland blasts Lubbock-Cooper Liberty
Facing their toughest opponent in over a month, the Bushland Lady Falcons didn’t bat easing past District 2-3A champion and upstart program Lubbock-Cooper Liberty in three-sets, 25-12, 25-15, 25-12, during a Class 3A regional quarterfinal on Tuesday night in Dimmitt.
The Lady Falcons continue to soar through the playoffs running over anyone in their way improving to 40 wins on the year, which matches West Plains and Randall for the most in the Texas Panhandle. The Lady Falcons (40-6), now have their eyes set on making a sixth straight UIL state tournament appearance, but before they can do that they’ll have to get past Clyde (37-12) in a Region I-3A Tournament semifinal at 8 p.m. on Friday at Lubbock-Cooper High School.
If the Lady Falcons beat Clyde on Friday, Bushland squares off with the Denver City-Peaster winner in Saturday’s regional championship.
Senior leader Abby Howell had an outstanding effort against the Lady Patriots (28-7) finishing with 13 kills and two blocks. Teammate Mackenzie Sims shined with six aces and 18 assists and Avery Ramos hit the floor for 12 digs.

Tascosa is tourney bound
The Tascosa Lady Rebels have caught fire since the beginning of the playoffs and ran with it.
On Tuesday night, the Lady Rebels used that recent moment to take down El Paso High in a Class 5A regional quarterfinal in four-sets, 25-21, 28-26, 22-25, 25-21, in Denver City.
Tascosa (30-15) punches a ticket to the Region I-5A Tournament for the first time in over a decade and will now face off with Colleyville Heritage (40-10) in a semifinal at 8 p.m. on Friday night at Lubbock Coronado High School.
The Lady Rebels defense was lights out against El Paso High with Avelyn Ireland, Ellaina Langeland and Kassidy Langeland each finishing with 14 digs a piece. Ireland was also unbelievable on the service line piling up seven aces.
On the offensive end, setter Meredith Sanning was in complete control handing out 39 assists and Molly Culp benefitted that with 10 kills. Teammate Berkley Harper added nine kills.
Amarillo High falls in five
Amarillo High was unable to hold on to a 2-1 advantage as the Lady Sandies saw their season come to a very disappointing end for a second year in a row at the hands of Lubbock-Cooper, 25-13, 19-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-12, in a Class 5A regional quarterfinal match in Dimmitt.
The Lady Sandies, the District 3-5A champions, end the year at 37-6 overall. Lubbock-Cooper moves to 32-12 and will take on Argyle (39-7) in a Region I-5A Tournament semifinal at 6 p.m. on Friday at Lubbock Coronado High School.
Junior outside hitter Sienna Cavalier posted a double-double for the Lady Sandies 17 digs and 13 kills. Bird Moffitt had a great showing with 29 digs on the back row.

Wildorado whips Fort Elliott
Wildorado made it a season sweep by beating district rival Fort Elliott for a third straight time, this one when it really counted, 25-15, 25-19, 25-20, in a Class 1A regional quarterfinal on Monday night at West Texas High in Stinnett.
The Lady Mustangs (21-4) march on to the Region I-1A Tournament to meet up with Veribest (28-9) in a semifinal at 3 p.m. Friday at San Angelo Central High School. The Lady Cougars, who were making their first third round appearance since 2018 end a solid year at 15-14.
Wildorado’s Jisella Segovia attacked the net with a team-high nine kills followed by Sonell Van Wyk and Cacy Cornwell who each had eight kills. Jovi Perkins provided stellar defense racking up 30 digs and Reyna Segovia registered 19 assists.
