Piper Patterson, West Plains volleyball, Sr.
On the court: Patterson has had a tremendous season and that continued last week during wins against Dumas and arch-rival Canyon.
Against the Demonettes, the all-around standout hit the floor for 15 digs and was strong offensively with 11 kills for a double-double. During the victory at Canyon, Patterson once again led the back row with 21 digs and added 10 kills for another double-double.
On the season, the senior captain has 321 digs with 244 kills and 27 aces.
Coach Kaitlyn Cornelius: “I think are confidence is getting much better. We have a lot of talented players and you seeing them put it together especially against a great Canyon team. I love that we just want to build to get better. Piper was huge for us last week and has been all year. She never comes off court and has big role for this team. She makes a huge difference and has improved so much on her defense this year. We all know how good she is on offense, but she is doing a great job on defense and making us better overall.”
Patterson: “I think we get one percent better each and every day and we’re working to get to that peak, we are all starting to click. We have great connections off of the court and we’re finally finding those connections on the court. Coming into my senior year, coach Cornelius wanted me to be a six-rotation player. A lot of pressure comes with that, but I feel as though I have stepped up to the plate and made tons of growth in my defensive role and my leadership role.”
