On the court: Soria had a monster outing to kickoff District 4-4A leading the Randall Lady Raiders to a sweep of Borger on Saturday, 25-14, 25-12, 25-11.

Soria did what she does best by handing out 42 assists to go with nine kills. The junior has also eclipsed 2,500 career assists as she currently sits at 2,582 in two years on varsity.

For the season, Soria is off to a fantastic start for the No. 1-ranked Lady Raiders (25-3) leading the team with 775 assists with 82 kills, 193 digs and 16 aces.

Coach Haleigh Burns: I think being a sophomore last year, Sidney was just trying to figure it all out, but she was a competitor and learned a ton. What I love about Sidney, is she isn’t like any other player. She is going to be who she and she’s leaned into that. That has helped us a lot and she’s now a leader. She is getting a lot of praise but she continues to grow, and she always wants to get better. She never gets complacent. It is awesome to see her go over 2,500 career assists especially as a junior. That is incredible. She’s also the first to give all the credit to her teammates about her accomplishments and is never selfish. She’ll hit many more milestones and goals over her high school career and it’s going to be great to see.”

Soria: “I think we’re still figuring it out as a team right now but we’re starting to find our groove and we have great chemistry. We have some new players stepping into big roles and they are starting to find their place and we’re going to start putting it all together during district. This year, I feel I’m improving and that’s what is important to me. I’m trying more advanced things in my game and I’m trying to take things to another level. Going over 2,500 career digs means a lot but I couldn’t do it without my teammates. I have great hitters that have helped me, and the entire team is always there to support me. I can’t do anything by myself. We’re all in this together.”
