Thursday’s game

Frenship (6-2, 3-1) at Tascosa (5-3, 2-2) 7 p.m. 

Tascosa has a chance to secure No. 1 seed in D-II playoffs and winning by 10 points (I think). Frenship is a beast on offense with transfer QB Donovan Smith, and own wins over two teams Tascosa lost to. Hmmm. No homer luck here. Just a hunch Tascosa handles the freezing temps better than Frenship and plays its best game of the year. … Tascosa 31, Frenship 24

Class 5A

Caprock (2-7, 2-3) at Lubbock Coronado (5-4, 3-2), 7 p.m.

The Rock has to win if the playoffs are in their future. Tough task on the road and stopping Coronado tall and talented QB Sawyer Robertson. …. Coronado 48, Caprock 28

Class 6A

Friday’s games

Midland Lee (9-0, 4-0) at Odessa Permian (5-4, 3-1), 7:30 p.m.

Lee has its eye on an unbeaten regular season and 2-6A title. Close for a half then the Rebels wear down Mojo. … Lee 45, Permian 31

Class 5A

Abilene Cooper (9-0, 5-0) at Amarillo High (7-2, 5-0), 7:30 p.m.

Another biggie in Dick Bivins Friday with a district title on the line. Both are in the playoffs. AHS QB Will Maynard has put up a player-of-the-year type season willing his team to wins all year. But man, the team speed of Cooper is the real deal. Cooper scores late for the win. … Cooper 28, AHS 24.

Lubbock Monterey (4-5, 2-3) vs. Lubbock High (1-8, 0-5), 7:30 p.m.

Monterey’s defense gives up points like crazy. Monterey’s offense scores points even crazier. … Monterey 54, Lubbock 21

Randall (3-6, 2-2) at Lubbock Cooper (8-1, 4-0), 7 p.m.

Randall has clinched a playoff berth. Cooper will clinch the district title in this one proving just too tough stop at home… Cooper 28, Randall 12

Friday’s games

Hereford (5-4, 9-0) at Dumas (9-0, 2-0), 7 p.m. 

The Demons can clinch the outright District 3-4A Division I title, and an unbeaten season for the first time since 1997 with a win. … Dumas 35, Hereford 16.

Pampa (7-2, 1-1) at Canyon (6-3, 0-2), 7 p.m.

The Harvesters can clinch the No. 2-seed out of District 3-4A Division I. However, if Canyon wins by 11 points or more, and Dumas beats Hereford, the Eagles are the two-seed. … Pampa 36, Canyon 29.

Estacado (9-0, 3-0) at Levelland (4-5, 2-1), 7 p.m. The Matadors can take the outright District 2-4A Division II championship with a victory. It’d also be Estacado’s first unbeaten season since 1968. … Estacado 34, Levelland 14. 

Perryton (1-8, 0-3) at Borger (1-8, 0-3), 7 p.m. 

It’s a simple scenario. Winner is in the playoffs. The loser goes to basketball. … Perryton 22, Borger 20.

Bushland (9-0, 3-0) at Muleshoe (0-9, 0-3), 7 p.m. 

A win for the Falcons gives them an undefeated season for the first time since going unbeaten in 2008 and 2009. … Bushland 52, Muleshoe 14.  

Littlefield (4-5, 2-2) at River Road (3-6, 1-3), 7 p.m.

It’s a must win situation for River Road. There are a couple of scenarios that have to play out for a chance at the playoffs, but River Road has to win first. … Littlefield 38, River Road 18.

Canadian (9-0, 4-0) at Spearman (5-4, 2-2), 7 p.m. 

The seeding is set for these two teams. It’s now about staying healthy for both with the playoffs looming. Canadian can finish a perfect regular season for the second time in three years. … Canadian 42, Spearman 14.

Childress (3-6, 3-1) at Tulia (4-5, 1-3), 7 p.m. 

Heading into the playoffs, the Bobcats goal is to stay healthy. Tulia will try and finish the season  with a .500 record. … Childress 38, Tulia 16.

Dimmitt (1-8, 0-4) at Friona (7-2, 2-2), 7 p.m. 

Though the record doesn’t show it, the Bobcats were an improved team that left a couple wins on the field this year. The Chieftains will have to show up to earn this W. … Friona 32, Dimmitt 20.

Bovina (3-6, 1-3) at S. Earth (2-7, 1-3), 7 p.m. 

Springlake-Earth plays host to Bovina Thursday night with a simple scenario. The winner earns a trip to the playoffs—loser goes home. Despite the challenges either team has faced, look for a close matchup in week 11. … Bovina 22, Springlake-Earth 18.

Friday’s games

S. Fritch (2-7, 2-2) at Panhandle (7-2, 3-1), 7 p.m. 

Panhandle is coming off a rough loss against West Texas High while the Eagles clinched a playoff spot with a win over Boys Ranch. Expect Panhandle to avenge last weeks performance … Panhandle 56, Sanford-Fritch 14.

West Texas High (7-2, 4-0) at Sunray (1-8, 1-2), 7 p.m.

West Texas High clinched the District I 2A-Division championship last week in an offensive explosion Aim for the Comanches to close out district with a W. … West Texas High 60, Sunray 20.

Highland Park (4-5, 2-2) at Boys Ranch (0-9, 0-4), 7 p.m. 

The Hornets want to roll into the playoffs with some positive momentum. … Highland Park 35, Boys Ranch 16.

Sudan (8-1, 4-0) at Farwell (7-2, 4-0), 7:30 p.m.

Farwell hosts the Hornets Friday night to complete for the District 2-2A Division II title. The Steers have been impressive in their district showing, but will it be enough to battle a stellar Hornet squad? … Sudan 42, Farwell 28.

Gruver (6-3, 2-1) at Stratford (8-1, 3-0), 7 p.m. 

The Elks have done nothing but dominate district opponents. Gruver has had difficulty overcoming an injury plagued roster. Look for the Elks to win in superb fashion Friday night. … Stratford 49, Gruver 30.

Vega (6-3, 1-2) at Clarendon (6-3, 2-1), 7 p.m. 

The winner claims a higher seed heading into the playoffs. Expect this game to come down to the end. Maybe even a thrilling finish. … Clarendon 35, Vega 33.

Wellington (8-1, 4-0) at Wheeler (8-1, 4-0), 7 p.m.

It’s a district title game, and a battle of two great players. Wheeler running back Hesston Marshall has galloped all over defenses for 1,700 plus yards. He’ll be challenged by Texas Tech commit and Wellington TE/DE John Michael Holcomb and the Skyrockets. … Wellington 49, Wheeler 22.

Quanah (3-6, 2-2) at Shamrock (3-6, 2-2), 7 p.m.

This is a seeding game with the winner taking the third-seed out of District 5-2A Division II, and the loser getting the fourth and final spot. … Quanah 28, Shamrock 18.

Wildorado (7-1) at Claude (4-5), 7 p.m. 

This is a great matchup between two outlaw programs, playing their last games before they count next season. Both teams look ready to take on the challenge of a true district schedule next season. … Claude 68, Wildorado 62.

Miami (5-4, 0-2) at McLean (8-1, 2-0), 7:30 p.m.

The defending champs are clicking on all cylinders just in time for the playoffs to begin. The solid Miami offense will be no match for this Tiger defense. … McLean 54 Miami 6.

Follett (1-7, 1-3) at Hedley (1-8, 1-3), 7:30 p.m. 

The Panthers postseason streak has come to an end after the loss to Groom last week. Hedley has improved over the past year, but Follett should get the win on the road. … Follett 45, Hedley 38.

Friday’s games

Valley (4-4, 1-1) at White Deer (7-2, 1-1), 7:30 p.m.

The winner of this one gets the second and final playoff spot in District 1. The Bucks have to win this game if they want a shot at a rematch with McLean. White Deer is the more physical team and should come out on top. … White Deer 78, Valley 46.

Petersburg (5-3, 3-0) at Nazareth (5-3, 2-1), 7:30 p.m. 

The Swifts have a chance to put District 2-1A Division I in a bit of a pickle. A Nazareth win can force a three-way tie at top the district with Petersburg and Happy. It’s an if, but if it happens, oh my what’s next? Stay tuned. … Nazareth 58, Petersburg 52.

Lorenzo (4-5) at Happy (6-3, 2-1), 7:30 p.m. 

The Cowboys aren’t happy with the way Friday’s loss to Petersburg ended. Expect them to take their frustrations out on the Hornets. … Happy 64, Lorenzo 14.

Higgins (1-8, 0-4) at Groom (7-2, 4-0), 7 p.m.

Unfortunately, this will be the final game of the Coyote football program. Higgins ISD is shutting down at the end of the school year. The Tigers started off slow last week, trailing after the first quarter. Expect Groom to come out firing on the offensive end this week. … Groom 58, Higgins 8.
