Thursday’s game

Lubbock Coronado (4-4, 2-2) at Palo Duro (3-6, 1-4), 7 p.m.

Palo Duro’s regular season finale is a must-win situation to keep its slim playoff hopes alive. Coronado is rested after having last week off and its prolific offense will be the difference. … Coronado 45, Palo Duro 13.

Class 6A

Friday’s games

Tascosa (5-3, 1-2) at Odessa High (2-6, 0-3) , 7:30 p.m.

Tascosa has lost its last two games. Struggling Odessa High is just what the doctor ordered to heal the Rebs. … Tascosa 55, Odessa 10.

Midland High (1-7, 0-3) vs. Midland Lee (8-0, 3-0) 7:30 p.m.

This Midland city rivalry will be decided by halftime for all practical purposes. Lee is the real deal. … Lee 62, Midland 14.

Odessa Permian (5-3, 3-0) at Frenship (6-2, 2-1), 7:30 p.m.

One of the top games in all of Class 6A around the state. Permian will test Frenship with its triple option attack. Frenship will counter with the hot-hand of run-pass QB Donovan Smith. In 2-6A the home field matters. … Frenship 34, Permian 31.

Class 5A

Lubbock Monterey (3-5, 1-3) at Caprock (2-6, 2-2) 7:30 p.m.

Oh my. We got us a doozy here with both teams knowing a win will likely result in a playoff berth out 2-5A DI. Monterey scores points like crazy AND gives up points like crazy. Caprock can score points as well and will be focused after laying that egg last week against Amarillo High. Hmmm. My hunch is Caprock in a shootout. … Caprock 45, Monterey 42.

Amarillo High (6-2, 4-0) at Lubbock High (1-7, 0-4), 7:30 p.m.

No let down here for the streaking Sandies.

P.S. – AHS hasn’t lost to Lubbock High since the mid 1970s. … AHS 42, Lubbock 7.

W.F. Rider (4-4, 2-1) at Randall (3-5, 2-1), 7 p.m.

Randall is alive and revived looking playoff bound after back to back 3-5A DII wins. Randall’s Brayden Beck has been a beast at RB-LB since district started and will be the difference in a tight one.  … Randall 17, Rider 14.

Dumas (8-0, 1-0) at Pampa (7-1, 1-0), 7 p.m. 

For a second week in a row a lot of eyes will be on Harvester Field for a huge district showdown with major implications. A powerful Demons defense faces off with a potent Pampa offense. If Pampa’s defense plays like it did against Hereford, Pampa will be hard to beat. … Pampa 27, Dumas 24.

Canyon (7-2, 0-1) at Hereford (4-4, 0-1), 7 p.m. 

Both teams are in need of a win after district opening losses. Both teams also need a victory to avoid a lower-seed for the upcoming playoffs. … Canyon 30, Hereford 21.

Borger (1-7, 0-2) at Dalhart (5-4, 2-1), 7 p.m.

The Golden Wolves have played some of their best football since district started. … Dalhart 35, Borger 14.

Levelland (3-5, 1-1) at Perryton (1-7, 0-2), 7 p.m. 

It’s a long drive for the Lobos, who are licking their wounds from a loss to Dalhart last week. The Rangers gave Estacado a scare, and will do the same Friday. … Perryton 24, Levelland 20.

River Road (3-5, 1-2) at Bushland (8-0, 3-0), 7 p.m.

Bushland has set themselves up to clinch a share of the district championship on Senior night. … Bushland 42, River Road 7.

Dimmitt (1-7, 0-3) at Canadian (8-0, 3-0), 7 p.m.

Wildcats roll. … Canadian 53, Dimmitt 7.

Spearman (5-3, 2-1) vs. Childress (2-6, 2-1), 7 p.m.

The winner of this contest has a great chance at being the No. 2-seed out of District 3-3A Division II in the postseason. … Childress 27, Spearman 14.

Tulia (4-4, 1-2) at Friona (6-2, 1-2), 7 p.m.

It’s a crucial game for each teams playoff hopes. The Chieftains tough at home. … Friona 38, Tulia 16.

This is one of the state’s best matchups, and a winner take all for the District 1-2A Division I title. The Comanches boast a ton of speed, led by a dual-threat quarterback Avian Cruz. The Panthers have an arsenal of weapons offensively, with several players rushing for over 100 yards per game. It’s likely we will see another offensive spectacle. Panthers take this one in a barn burner. … Panhandle 56, West Texas High 38.

Sunray (1-7, 1-2) at Highland Park (3-5, 1-2), 7 p.m. 

A win gets the Bobcats or Hornets closer to the playoffs. … Highland Park 28, Sunray 15.

Boys Ranch (0-8, 0-3) at Sanford-Fritch (1-7, 1-2), 7 p.m.

The Roughriders are a scrappy team, desperate to break their losing ways. Expect Boys Ranch to give the Eagles a fight, but will it be enough. … Sanford-Fritch 40, Boys Ranch 20.

Farwell (6-2, 3-0) at Bovina (3-5, 1-2), 7 p.m.

It’s a rekindling of an old rivalry between two towns separated by 11 miles on Highway 60. The Steers are red hot of late, and will be tough to beat. … Farwell 35, Bovina 20.

Stratford (7-1, 2-0) at Booker (1-8, 0-3), 7 p.m.

The Elks have cruised through the 2019 season, putting up impressive numbers on both sides of the ball. Aim for the versatile Iuden Romero to have a solid night. … Stratford 56, Booker 14.

Clarendon (5-3, 1-1) at Gruver (6-2, 2-0), 7 p.m.

With Conyers at wideout, look for Gruver to spread the ball around with quarterback Carter Armes. … Gruver 35, Clarendon 21.

Hedley (1-8, 0-3) at Lefors (4-3, 2-1) 7:30 p.m.

Wildorado (7-0) at White Deer JV, 5:30 p.m,

This matchup was canceled due to the weather last week. The Mustangs are working hard with what they have, and are the favorites. … Wildorado 66, White Deer JV 32.

McLean (7-1, 1-0) at Valley (4-3, 1-0), 7:30 p.m.

The defending champs made a statement with their dominant win over White Deer, but the road to a repeat has many obstacles. They cannot overlook this high-powered Patriot offense. The Tigers will get it done. … McLean 68, Valley 21.

Happy (6-2, 2-0) at Petersburg (4-3, 2-0), 7:30 p.m. 

The Cowboys can clinch a playoff spot and most likely the District 2-1A Division I title with a win. Expect this one to be over quick as the Happy offense comes out hot. … Happy 54, Petersburg 8.

Nazareth (4-3, 1-1) at Hart (2-7, 1-2), 7:30 p.m.

The Swifts got the forfeit win last week, but an added plus was extra preparation for the end of the district season. This is a hard fought rivalry where records don’t matter. The Swifts should come out on top. … Nazareth 70, Hart 22.
