An explosive fifth inning was the difference for the Randall Lady Raiders as they took down Bell Street rival Amarillo High in a District 3-5A battle Friday at the AHS Softball Complex.
Randall trailed 2-1 heading into the top of the fifth before rallying with a five-run inning highlighted by a Heaven Moreno two-run home run dead into the wind to left field. Teammate Leah Garcia also did damage at the plate going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.
Despite the loss, Lady Sandies leadoff hitter Tatem Pentergraft was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Randall improves to 10-9-1 overall and 1-1 in district. AHS falls to 6-8, 1-1.

Caprock’s Hernandez hits for cycle
Caprock center fielder Aubrianna Hernandez had a career afternoon hitting for the cycle to lead the Lady Longhorns to a 35-3 run-rule win against District 3-5A rival Palo Duro on Friday.
Hernandez singled, doubled, tripled and hit two home runs during her career performance, finishing the day 5-for-6 at the dish totaling 4 RBIs. Teammate and shortstop Amyiah Alaniz led the team with six RBIs on a 2-for-3 outing at the plate that included two homers.
Caprock stays unbeaten in district at 2-0 and are 6-4 overall. The Lady Dons drop to 1-6, 1-1.

Plainview downs Tascosa
A fast start from Plainview was too much for Tascosa to overcome, falling to the Lady Bulldogs 18-8 on Friday in Plainview.
The Lady Bulldogs stormed out to a 9-0 lead before Tascosa was able to rally with a 6-run third inning, but the Lady Rebels never got any closer.
Plainview’s Mikayla Carrillo went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Teammate Madison Martinez was 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Tascosa’s Makenna had a solid evening with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate, driving home two runs.
Plainview is now 1-1 in District 3-5A and 8-12 overall. Tascosa falls to 9-4, 0-2.

Canyon run-rules Perryton
The Canyon bats were on fire during a 26-0 run-rule victory against Perryton in a District 4-4A clash at the Lady Eagles Softball Complex on Friday night.
The Lady Eagles smashed out 17 hits four total home runs in the victory. First baseman Danielle Burns, who threw a personal-best 39-2 1/4 in the shot put at the Amarillo Relays Meet of Champions earlier in the day, hit her team-leading seventh homer of the year in the third inning. Burns finished the game going 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Teammates Kylie Knowles, Lia Gutierrez and Berkley Bradley also got in on the long ball fun. Knowles not only went 1-for-3 with a 2-run homer, she even threw seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit with 10 K’s. Gutierrez was 4-for-5 at the dish including a double, a homer and tallied five RBIs.
Canyon moves to 8-7-2 overall, and 2-0 in district. Perryton falls to 5-5, 0-2.

Pampa doubles up rival Borger
The Pampa Lady Harvesters remained unbeaten in District 4-4A by doubling up rival Borger, 4-2, at home Friday night.
Freshman pitcher Kynleigh Kirby had her second straight impressive outing in the circle. Despite giving up two solo home runs, Kirby threw a complete game, and handcuffed the Lady Bulldogs to three hits, racking up 12 strikeouts. Teammate Makenzie Anguiano supplied key offense with a 2-run homer in the bottom of the third. Esme DeLeon gave the Lady Harvesters some much needed insurance when she scored on a pass ball in the bottom of the sixth. Despite the loss, Borger’s Jera Callahan and Brilee Houchin each hit solo home runs.
Pampa (9-3-1) improves to 2-0 in district. Borger (5-5) falls to 1-1 in the league race.

Dumas rallies to take down Hereford
Dumas erased a four run deficit to pull out a 9-7 come-from-behind district win against Hereford in a very competitive matchup in Dumas on Friday.
Hereford led 6-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth when the Demonettes bats woke up highlighted by a Hope Cortes 3-run long ball. It was Cortes’ second home run on the year. Cortes was stellar at the plate going 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Hereford’s Bonnie Vallejo paced the Whitefaces with a triple, a home run on a 2-for-3 performance at the dish with an RBI.
Dumas is now 7-8 overall and 1-1 in District 4-4A. The Whitefaces fall to 3-16, 0-2.

Bushland beats up Canadian
The Bushland Lady Falcons continued their march through District 1-3A play dismantling Canadian 27-0 at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Falcons slugged out 31 hits with nine of those come for extra-bases.
Brylee Adams had a career afternoon hitting for the cycle, getting a single, double, triple and a home run. Adams ended the day going an eye-opening 5-for-5 with six RBIs. If that wasn’t impressive enough, Adams also came one single from throwing a no-hitter in the circle. Adams tossed a gem throwing five scoreless innings, and racking up 11 K’s. Corley Carr was also big at the dish going 5-for-6 with a pair of RBIs.
Bushland is now 16-2-1 overall and 2-0 in district. Canadian falls to 3-14, 0-2.

Dalhart fends off River Road
Dalhart held off a late rally to beat River Road in a District 1-3A game at River Road on Saturday.
The Lady Wolves led 8-2 after two innings only to see River Road chip away. With Dalhart leading 11-6, heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Wildcats plated four, but came up one run short.
Dalhart improves to 2-0 in district and 6-5 overall. River Road falls to 6-10, 0-2.
Caryce Guerrero and Cristal Davila each drove in two RBIs for the Lady Wolves. River Road was led by Makanna Cooper’s 2-for-4 day with three RBIs including a homer.
