Week in and week out the No. 3 Randall Lady Raiders keep flexing their muscle.

Randall showed that muscle off once again Saturday, sweeping a scrappy Caprock squad 25-13, 25-10, 25-10 at the Randall Gym.

It was also an emotional afternoon for Lady Raiders coach Haleigh Burns during the win.

Burns, who took over at Randall over the summer, graduated from Caprock and was the Lady Longhorns head coach the last four years.

“It was emotional,” Burns said. “I’ve been anxious about. I wanted Caprock to play well and for us to play well. I know those girls at Caprock so well. That was tough. But I also had to focus and wanted us to come out strong. We did that. We weren’t distracted and I’m proud of our team.”

Randall kept (25-3, 4-0) pace with Amarillo High (19-11, 5-0) and No. 6 Lubbock Monterey (25-6, 5-0) for first place in the District 3-5A race.

The Lady Raiders jumped out to a fast start that sunk Caprock’s momentum. From that point forward, the Lady Longhorns couldn’t ever find a rhythm.

Randall powerful senior Brianna Ford had a great game with 12 kills, three blocks and five aces. Stevie Reynecke added 13 kills and Peyton Irwin hit the floor for 15 digs.
