H.S. Volleyball roundup: Randall rolls, Caprock snaps skid; Bushland, Tascosa get nondistrict wins

The Randall Lady Raiders were able to keep pace with Lubbock Monterey and Amarillo High for first place in the district chase.

Randall wasted no time downing Plainview, cruising to a 25-8, 25-14, 25-18 sweep at Plainview’s Gym on Tuesday.

The No. 3-ranked Lady Raiders improve to 26-3 overall and a perfect 5-0 in District 3-5A. Randall is tied with Amarillo High (20-11, 5-0) and trail Lubbock Monterey (26-6, 6-0) by a half game for first place.

Senior Brianna Ford knocked down 10 kills, had seven digs and three blocks. Torryn Barrientos passed around 19 assists with four aces.

Caprock snaps losing skid:The Caprock Lady Longhorns snapped a recent three-game losing skid, taking down Lubbock High, 25-18, 25-22, 25-16 at home Tuesday.

The victory was key for Caprock which pulls back to .500 in District 3-5A at 3-3 and 18-12 overall. The Lady Longhorns get set for another big match Friday night when they travel to Lubbock Cooper (20-13, 2-3) for a 5 p.m., start.

Shelbie Brazille led Caprock with 11 kills while teammate Raygan Lopez slammed down nine.

Aubri Hernandez made a game-high 26 assists.

Highland Park keeps rolling: It was another night at the office for No. 7-ranked Highland Park.

The Lady Hornets were able dismantled district foe West Texas High in a 25-4, 25-15, 25-9, sweep at home Tuesday.

The sister duo of Nevaeh and Cynarah Rodriguez continue to impress for Highland Park. Nevaeh tallied 12 kills, nine aces and seven blocks. Cynarah followed with 12 kills of her own to go with eight assists.

The Lady Hornets stay unbeaten in District 1-2A at 3-0 and improve to 22-8 overall. WT High drops to 10-9, 2-1.

Amarillo takes down Canyon: Amarillo High stepped out of district play to nab a 21-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-15 win at Canyon on Tuesday.

The Lady Eagles came out strong taking the first set before AHS rallied to win the next three.

The Lady Sandies, who are 5-0 in District 3-5A, move to 20-11 overall. Canyon falls to 17-14.

AHS setter Hannah Shipman had a big night. The senior totaled 41 assists with 12 digs. Sophomore Currie Marusak posted 12 kills.

Canyon’s Emma Crenshaw had 12 digs and eight kills, followed by teammate Bryli Contreras’ 31 digs.

Amarillo High def. Canyon 21-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-15.

Tascosa sweeps Borger: The Tascosa Lady Rebels cruised to a 25-21, 25-15, 25-22 sweep of Borger at home Tuesday.

The victory snapped a two-game losing skid for the Lady Rebels, who are now 17-11 overall.

Taryn Galt was the game changer for Tascosa putting down a game-high 15 kills. Aaliyah Hardy added 28 assists and Kayden Bridges finishes with 18 digs.

Bushland beats up OHS:The newly No. 1-ranked Bushland Lady Falcons from Class 3A cruised past Class 6A Odessa High, 25-12, 25-13, 25-20.

Bushland has now won 23 straight games, improving to 32-1 on the year.

Ansley Sims totaled 22 assists with seven kills. Kinley Rudder powered down eight Kills.
