H.S. Volleyball Tuesday recap: Hereford clinches outright 4-4A title; Canyon, Bushland cruise

Hereford wrapped up its first outright district championship since 2008 after getting a sweep of Borger 25-8, 25-11, 25-18 at the Bulldogs Gym Tuesday.

The Lady Whitefaces (20-1) are now a perfect 9-0 in District 4-4A and will enter the playoffs as the No. 1-seed.

The rest of the district played itself out as well Tueday night. Canyon will be the No. 2-seed out of District 4-4A by downing Dumas 25-21, 25-10, 25-9. Canyon moves to 13-5, 6-2. The Demonettes (15-9, 5-4) will be the No. 3-seed.

Pampa is also playoff bound. The Lady Harvesters (14-9, 4-5) dominated Perryton, 25-13, 25-12, 25-12, to capture the fourth and final playoff spot.

Tuesday’s top performers

Hereford’s Taytum Stow was incredible against the Lady Bulldogs pounding down a game-high 24 kills with three blocks.

Bushland senior setter Taryn Schultz celebrated her birthday helping the Lady Falcons to a sweep of Highland Park. Schultz ended her night with 15 assists and seven aces.

Rhianna Todd tallied an eye-opening eight aces in Dalhart’s sweep of River Road.

Despite a loss to Idalou in five-sets, Childress middle blocker Grace Foster scored a double-double racking up 26 kills with 22 digs.
