Randall powers past Borger
The No. 1-ranked Randall Lady Raiders picked up where they left off last year opening District 4-4A with a dominating performance by sweeping Borger on the road, 25-14, 25-12, 25-11, on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Raiders, who went a perfect 16-0 in the league last year, improve to 25-3 overall and 1-0 in district. Borger falls to 14-10, 0-1.
Randall setter Sidney Soria had a great outing dishing out 42 assists giving the junior an impressive 2,582 assists for her career. Soria also tallied nine kills against the Lady Bulldogs. Teammate and reigning District MVP Jordyn Gove put together a double-double knocking down 25 kills with 25 kills to go with 11 digs.
Emilee Bridges totaled six kills with six kills to lead Borger.
Canyon downs Dumas in four sets
Canyon got District 4-4A play started off on the right foot by going on the road Saturday and getting a big four-set victory over Dumas, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-15.
Brooklyn Kinsey and Sydnee Winfrey were very strong at the net each finishing with 11 kills. Winfrey tacked on three blocks while Kinsey added two. Landri Jay hit the floor helping on the defensive side with a team-high 26 digs and Laney Jones registered 15 assists with five aces.
Dumas’ Rylee Schacher had 12 kills, 5.5 blocks with two aces.
Canyon is off to a 1-0 start to District 4-4A and improves to 14-14 overall. Dumas drops to 15-18, 0-1.
West Plains handles Pampa
Jayli Franklin and McCall Sims provided the sparks the West Plains Lady Wolves needed in a 25-10, 25-13, 25-23 sweep at Pampa to open district action on Saturday afternoon.
Franklin was very good on the offensive side powering home a game-high 15 kills. Franklin was set up nicely by teammates Zenaida Murrillo and Emerson Castillo who combined for 36 assists. Murrillo finished with 20 assists followed by Castillo’s 16. Sims played great defense with 13 digs and added three aces. AJ Norman finished with 12 digs and three aces of her own.
West Plains (25-6 overall) is now 1-0 in District 4-4A. Pampa drops to 14-11, 0-1.
Hereford handles Perryton
The Hereford Lady Whitefaces finished off a very successful week by making a long road trip well worth it during a 25-11, 25-10, 25-10, sweep at Perryton on Saturday.
The Lady Whitefaces were able to back-to-back wins together after beating Frenship on Tuesday to close out the non-district portion of the schedule. Hereford moves to 9-14 overall and 1-0 in District 4-4A. With the loss, the Rangerettes are now 2-14-2 overall and 0-1 in league play.
London Baker paved the way for the Lady Whitefaces handing out 23 assists and serving up a game-high five aces. Kyndal Blair finished with a team-high 12 kills with Allee Purcell adding nine kills and Jynae Fletcher knocking down seven kills.
