Canyon sweeps triangular
The Canyon Lady Eagles closed out its very difficult non-district schedule with a pair of home wins Tuesday night. Canyon swept Highland Park, 25-15, 25-21, 26-24, followed by a sweep of Caprock, 25-19, 26-24, 25-18.
Lady Eagles outside hitter Cali McKinley totaled 19 kills in both victories, as teammate Aliana Bellino dished out a combined 25 assists. Landri Jay also had two big games combining for 33 digs.
Canyon is 5-20 overall heading into District 4-4A play at home against Dumas on Saturday.
Highland Park did bounce back to beat Caprock in the other game of the triangular, 25-15, 25-17, 25-11. Outside hitter Kyra Courtemanche had 27 total kills in both matches.
Bushland stays hot
The Bushland Lady Falcons earned win No. 20 on the season by downing Dumas in four-sets, 21-25, 25-11, 25-6, 25-21, at home on Tuesday night.
The Lady Falcons improve to 20-4 overall on the year. Madyson Eberly led the charge against the Demonettes pounding down 16 kills to go with six blocks and three aces. Teammate Kaela Neie added nine kills with a pair of aces, and setter Logan Culpepper totaled 30 assists.
Hallie Coon of Dumas had seven kills with 16 digs in the loss. Dumas is now 18-11 overall.
Hereford handles Frenship
Hereford went on the road and made quick work of Frenship thanks to a 25-15, 25-23, 25-17, on Tuesday night.
Hereford strong start to the year continues as the Lady Whitefaces wrap up non-district play with a 21-6 mark.
The sister comination of Camryn and Kendal Blair were superb. Kendal had a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Camryn added a game-high 11 kills. Teammate Nickilah Whatley also had 10 kills with four aces and four blocks.
The Lady Whitefaces open District 4-4A play at home with Perryton at noon, on Saturday.
West Plains sweeps Palo Duro
The West Plains Lady Wolves ended its very impressive non-district schedule with a sweep of Palo Duro at home, 25-22, 25-11, 25-16, on Tuesday.
West Plains wraps up its non-district schedule at 21-3 overall and will open district at home with Pampa (16-8) at noon, on Saturday.
Zenaida Murillo and Cecelia Murillo combined for 34 total assists. Zenaida had a game-high 19, with Cecelia adding 15. Zenaida also totaled eight digs. Teammate Jayli Franklin put away 10 kills followed by Piper Patterson’s nine kills.
Palo Duro was led by Precious Johnson with seven kills and six blocks. The Lady Dons fall to 11-12 overall.
Amarillo High sweeps Coronado
Amarillo High didn’t hesitate to continue its steady play taking down Lubbock Coronado 25-13, 25-10, 25-15, on the road on Tuesday.
Sienna Cavalier and Jaycie Scott were strong at the net combining for 22 kills. Cavalier finished with a game-high 13 kills and added nine digs with four aces while Scott added nine kills. Senior setter Jo Moffitt dished out 22 assists and Clair Fansler totaled three blocks.
The Lady Sandies won their 20th game of the year improving to 20-8 overall.
Tuesday’s notes
Lubbock-Cooper came into town and downed Tascosa 25-16, 25-19, 25-22.
The Lady Rebels fall to 14-12 overall on the year. Tascosa’s Meredith Sanning did have 31 assists despite the loss and teammate Kassidy Langeland added 12 digs. Tascosa is now 14-12 overall.
Borger ended non-district play with a convincing win over Dalhart, 25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15 win on Tuesday.
Katie Buchanan had a team-high nine kills while teammate Adraya Loftis made eight kills to go with two blocks. Emilee Bridges did her part in the victory knocking down seven kills with five blocks. Borger (14-8) opens District 4-4A action at Randall at noon, on Saturday.
River Road knocked off West Texas High at home, 25-20, 26-24, 25-9 on Tuesday. Rylee Kunkel had a strong performance for the Lady Wildcats with nine kills. Reese DeHart had 13 assists, and Makaela Sharp tallied three aces. River Road improves to 9-11 overall on the year.
