Hereford wins at Canyon
The Hereford Lady Whitefaces snapped a two-game losing skid with a four-set win over rival Canyon, 25-22, 25-17, 21-25, 25-23, at the Joe Lombard Gymnasium in Canyon on Saturday.
The win keeps Hereford all alone in third place of District 4-4A at 5-2 and 14-16 overall. Canyon drops into a three-way tie for fourth at 3-4 in the league and 16-18 overall.
The Lady Whitefaces used fantastic performances from a plethora of players that stepped up in the victory. Kydnal Blair knocked down an incredible 33 kills followed by Allee Purcella’s 22. London Baker dished out 36 assists with Madi Madrigal adding 20, and Esteffani Solozano chipped in with 10 digs and three aces.
Canyon’s Brooklyn Kinsey registered a double-double with 12 digs and 10 kills.
Randall sweeps Perryton
Randall kept its strong hold on the league lead easing past Perryton at home, 25-10, 25-11, 25-17, on Saturday.
Brooke Henderson, Kandree Perez and Kenna Miller showed up strong for the Lady Raiders. Henderson tallied 11 kills with eight digs, Perez led the team with 16 kills and Miller was tremendous at the service line with five aces to go with 18 digs. Teammate and junior standout setter Sidney Soria finished with a game-high 36 assists with a pair of aces and kills.
Randall (31-3) moves its District 4-4A win streak to 23 straight games dating back to last season as the Lady Raiders stay perfect at 7-0 this year. Perryton drops to 2-20-2, 0-7.
Dumas gets big home win over Pampa
Dumas stayed hot with a third straight district win by edging Pampa in a key clash thanks to a five-set thriller at home, 24-26, 25-21, 25-23, 18-25, 15-13.
In a very back-and-forth meeting, the Demonettes used big time production from Rylee Schacher who was strong at the net with 19 kills, five blocks, and had four aces.
Kennedy Clements added 17 kills and Dumas passed the ball very superbly from Gabi Alvarez with 30 assists and Sophie Clements tallying 18. Alvarez also did her job on the defensive side with 18 digs for a double-double effort. Ashley Suggs defense did the job as well with 25 digs.
Pampa’s Maecie Hawthorne played excellent with 32 assists and 19 digs for a double-double. Mazi Smith had a team-high 19 kills and Carsyn Hunt added 20 digs.
West Plains bounces Borger
It was another quick day of work for the West Plains Lady Wolves as they bounced Borger in straight sets, 25-15, 25-18, 25-9, on Saturday.
Emerson Castillo finished with 12 assists and eight digs for West Plains in the victory. Teammate CC Murillo led the way with 18 assists and Brooklyn Garcia, Jayli Franklin and Adyson Simmons each knocked down seven kills.
Borger’s Esther Quinones passed out 12 assists with five digs to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
West Plains reaches 30 wins for the second straight year improving to 30-7 overall. The Lady Wolves also stay a game back of Randall in the District 4-4A race at 6-1. Borger falls to 15-15, 1-6.
District 3-5A
Caprock and Tascosa win
Tascosa kept its perfect district record intact while the Caprock Lady Longhorns earned their first league win on Saturday.
The Lady Rebels picked up a home sweep of Palo Duro, 25-10, 25-13, 25-12.
Tascosa is now 3-0 in District 3-5A and 24-12 overall. The Lady Dons fall to 0-2 in the league play at 16-12-1 overall.
Molly Culp and Gabbie Mason combined for 17 kills for Tascosa. Ellaina Langeland hit the floor for 11 digs with five ace and Meredith Sanning ran the offense with 30 assists.
Caprock snapped a two-game district losing streak with a sweep of Plainview at home, 31-29, 25-22, 25-23.
Adrienne Madrid had a good afternoon with 29 assists and two aces, Tyra Navarrete scored nine kills with two blocks and Lilliana Rangel had 19 assists with 17 digs for a double-double.
The Lady Longhorns improve to 1-2 in District 3-5A and 19-13 overall. Plainview is now 16-19 overall and 0-2.
District 1-3A
Bushland rolls Dalhart, Friona sweeps Dimmitt
Both Bushland and Friona picked up victories on Saturday afternoon.
The Squaws swept Dimmitt 25-13, 25-9, 25-12, while the Lady Falcons had no issues with Dalhart getting a 25-7, 25-17, 25-14, three-set sweep.
Bushland moves its district win streak to 83 straight matches dating back to 2011. The Lady Falcons also keep a stronghold on the District 1-3A lead at 2-0 while improving to 31-6 overall. The Lady Wolves drop to 1-2 in league play and 16-10-1.
Avery Ramos put together a nice outing with 27 assists with four aces for Bushland. Abby Howell went for 15 kills and three aces and Mackenzie Sims and Anzley Tiffan combined for 38 assists.
In the win over Dimmitt, Friona’s Jacee Burney and Kitzy Welch tallied a total of 15 kills. Burney had a team-high eight with Welch adding seven. Ivory Shelby worked the offense well with 20 assists.
The Squaws (24-8) have put together two straight wins to move to 2-1 in District 1-3A. Dimmitt’s struggles continue at 1-24, 0-2.
District 1-2A
Sanford-Fritch keeps grip on 1-2A lead, Vega stays hot
The Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles kept a tight grip on the District 1-2A lead by staying unbeaten with a 25-16, 25-21, 25-22, sweep against Highland Park on Saturday.
The Lady Eagles stay perfect in district at 3-0 and move to 22-6 overall. The Lady Hornets are now 1-2 in the league and 9-19 overall.
Avery Conner finished off a great week for the Lady Eagles with another big game. Conner torched the Highland Park defense for 13 kills and added five blocks. Teammate Kinley Roberts did a good job of setting up the offense with 15 assists and Saydee and Emma Williams each had four kills with 11 digs.
Highland Park’s Tessica Deanda went for 11 kills, seven assists with two aces.
After dropping the district opener, the Vega Lady Longhorns have put together back-to-back wins.
Vega was able to gain a sweep against Memphis in a 25-15, 25-16, 25-13, sweep on Saturday.
Jaz Martinez put together a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs. Teammate Raelyn Calhoun was stellar serving up nine aces and Tayson Schenk tallied six kills.
The Lady Longhorns (15-11) are all alone in third place in District 1-2A at 2-2. Memphis falls to 0-3 in the league and 5-10 overall.
District 1-1A
Wildorado beats Miami in 1-1A showdown, Fort Elliott wins
Wildorado went on the road Saturday and came back with a four-set win over Miami in District 1-1A showdown, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-14.
The Lady Mustangs are in complete control of 1-1A at 3-0 in the league and 16-4 overall. Miami, which was playing their first district game, falls to 16-8, 0-1.
Jovi Perkins was a huge reason for the Wildorado win going for 31 digs with five aces and five assists. Reyna Segovia added 20 assists with 10 digs for a double-double and Cacy Cornwell had 15 kills.
The Lady Warriors were led by Mercedes Ewing who had 22 kills with 17 digs for a double-double effort of her own and Bentley Brooks’ 26 assists.
Fort Elliott found the district win column for the first time on Friday night by defeating Kelton, 25-14, 25-16, 27-25.
The Lady Cougars go to 1-1 in district and 10-10 overall. The Lady Lions are still looking for their first league win at 0-2 and 11-10 overall.
Fort Elliott’s Ali Mahler was magnificent in the victory serving up an eye-opening eight aces to go with 14 kills and seven digs. Teammate Aliyah McCarter added seven kills with six aces and Jaylie Dickie hit the floor for 11 digs with seven kills.
