West Plains stays unbeaten in district with sweep of Canyon
West Plains stayed undefeated in District 4-4A making the short trip to Canyon and beating the rival Lady Eagles in a 25-16, 25-21, 25-20, sweep on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Wolves move to 3-0 in the league and 27-6 overall and will now get ready for a showdown with No. 1-ranked Randall (27-3, 3-0) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Randall Gym. Canyon suffers its first loss of district falling to 2-1 and 15-15 overall.
The Lady Wolves moved the ball well between their two setters Emerson Castillo and Zenaida Murillo. The duo combined for 36 assists with Castillo handing out a team-high 23 followed by Murillo’s 13. Murillo also played a strong defensive game with 18 digs to finish with a double-double.
Benefitting from the sets were Jayli Franklin, Piper Patterson and Kynzie Ward. Franklin had a great outing leading the team with 12 kills as Patterson and Ward each knocked down eight kills. McCall Sims tallied 16 digs for West Plains.
Canyon’s Cali Mckinley and Brooklyn Kinsey each had six kills. Mckinley added 11 digs and Laney Jones chipped in with 12 assists.
Randall reigns over Dumas
Dumas took the first set, but after that it was all Randall as the No. 1-ranked Lady Raiders walked away with a four-set, 21-25, 25-19, 25-8, 25-13, victory on Saturday afternoon at the Dumas Gym.
Brooke Henderson and Kenna Miller were the highlights on the defensive side for Randall combining for 34 digs. Miler hit the floor for a game-high 19 digs while Henderson had 15. Henderson was also superb on offense with nine kills. Kandree Perez added nine kills. Sidney Soria was lights out passing around 52 assists with 11 digs and nine kills coming close to a triple-double and teammate Jordyn Gove led the team with 26 kills, 14 digs for a double-double and five aces.
Dumas’ Kennedy Clements finished with nine kills and Ashley Suggs totaled 17 digs.
Randall improves to 27-3 and 3-0 in District 4-4A. The Lady Raiders will host West Plains (27-6, 3-0) in a district showdown at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The Demonettes fall to 15-19, 0-3.
Hereford stays hot
The Hereford Lady Whitefaces took down Pampa in a three-set sweep, 25-18, 25-20, 26-24, to stay undefeated in district on Saturday.
The Lady Whitefaces push their overall record to 12-14 and move to 3-0 in District 4-4A. Pampa (14-13) is still looking for its first league win dropping to 0-3.
Outside hitter Kyndal Blair was the difference maker pounding home a game-high 21 kills. Teammate Allee Purcell followed with 14 and Jynae Fletcher added nine. London Baker made the passes happen to her hitters handing out 34 assists.
Mazi Smith and Maecie Hawthorne had a double-double for Pampa. Smith went for 17 assists and 14 digs.
Borger finds district win column
After a tough start to league play, the Borger Lady Bulldogs finally found the win column getting a sweep of Perryton at home, 25-19, 25-14, 25-17, on Saturday.
The Lady Bulldogs move to 1-2 in District 4-4A and 15-11 overall. Perryton (2-16-2) stays winless in district at 0-3.
Adraya Loftis paced Borger thanks to 13 kills and two blocks. Isabella Pena tacked on 18 assists and Emilee Bridges played strong at the net with six blocks to go with four kills.
Non-district
Amarillo High cruises by Odessa High
Amarillo High continues to play very well during its non-district schedule. The Lady Sandies tacked on another victory by easing past Odessa High with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-20, sweep on Friday night.
Sienna Cavalier and Ryan Pennington each had 11 kills to lead the Lady Sandies. Blair Pennington dished out 26 assists and Bird Moffitt tacked on nine digs.
AHS is now 25-5 overall.
Bushland downs Tascosa
Bushland remains to be a force as the Lady Falcons dismantled the Tascosa Lady Rebels with a 25-14, 25-15, 25-15, sweep on Thursday night.
Bushland is 27-6 overall.
Abby Howell had 12 kills for the Lady Falcons followed by Jayce Ornales with eight. Mackenzie Sims finished with 23 kills and five kills.
Tascosa did bounce back on Saturday with a sweep of River Road. The Lady Rebels made quick work of the Lady Wildcats with a 25-13, 25-13, 25-11, victory.
Tascosa is now 21-11 overall. River Road falls to 13-9.
Meredith Sanning was the story totaling 29 assists, nine digs and six aces.
Caprock sweeps Dalhart
The Caprock Lady Longhorns were taken to five sets by Dalhart, but were able to escape with a thrilling win, 18-25, 27-25, 12-25, 25-16, 16-14, on Saturday.
Grace Morales was clutch for the Lady Longhorns with 11 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Morales also had nine kills. Adrienne Madrid had a game-high 24assists with four aces and Reese Dindinger knocked down a team-high 12 kills.
Caprock pushes its record to 17-11 overall.
