Farwell takes down Stratford
The Farwell Steers continue to prove themselves as legit contenders in Class 2A.
On Friday night, the Steers used a huge night from Ryder McElroy to stop Stratford 60-44 during a Class 2A area round clash at the Amarillo High Activity Center.
McElroy didn’t miss lighting up the Elks for a game-high 33 points behind six 3-pointers on the night. Teammate Hudson Agee chipped in with 10.
Stratford (10-11), which had a big win over Wellington in Tuesday’s bi-district round, stayed with Farwell in the first half trailing 34-33 at the break. The second half was a little different story. Farwell caught fire outscoring the Elks 18-4 in the third to take over the game.
The Steers (25-9) advance to play Floydada (26-8) in the regional quarterfinals at a time and place to be determined. The Whirlwinds beat Wheeler 85-76 on Friday.
District 4-4A makes another statement

For a second straight round, Randall, Canyon, West Plains and Hereford made it a clean sweep and they will now all play each other in Tuesday’s regional quarterfinal.
