
Tascosa tames Plainview
With a stacked nine-team league it’s hard to imagine, but District 3-5A is already underway for Texas Panhandle softball teams.
With that said, Tascosa jumped out on the right foot to open district play going on the road and getting a 9-1 win against Plainview on Monday night.
The Lady Rebels are now 3-4 overall on the year and now 1-0 in league action.
Tascosa got things going early plating five runs in the first two innings to take a 5-0 lead. That was more than enough support for Lady Rebel hurler Christmas Morris. Morris was dealing tossing a complete game scattering three hits while racking up 13 strikeouts.
The offense was provided by Emmi Whitehead who went 3-for-4 at the plate including a three-run homer. Reece Correa tacked on a 2-for-4 day at the dish with a pair of RBIs.
Amarillo High run-rules Palo Duro
The Amarillo High Lady Sandies had no issues in their district opener run-ruling Palo Duro 23-0 at Palo Duro on Monday afternoon.
The Lady Sandies are now 5-2 overall on the early part of the season and 1-0 in District 3-5A.
Brylee Baker had an inside the park homer finishing the day with two RBIs. Braylee Shuffield went 3-for-4 with two doubles scoring four times while driving in a pair of runs, and Mykaela Samuels was 2-for-2 driving in three RBIs.
In two other district games, Lubbock High defeated Caprock 12-2. Despite the loss, Grace Morales did have a solo home run for the Lady Longhorns. Caprock is now 0-2 on the year and 0-1 in the league. Lubbock Monterey downed Lubbock Coronado 7-2.
