
Randall rolls over Canyon
Randal used a pair of five-running innings to ground rival Canyon 10-3 during a District 4-4A clash on Saturday afternoon at the Double Eagle Softball Complex.
After a pitching duel through the first four innings, Randall exploded with a five-run top of the fifth to go up 5-1 highlighted by RBI doubles from Landri Holcomb and Alyssa Navarrete and then capped off by a two-run blast by Jazlynn Quigley.
Leading 5-3 heading into the top of the seventh, the Lady Raiders picked up some much-needed insurance plating five more runs to put the game away. Navarrate finished the day 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Emma Cueller had two doubles with an RBI and on top of Quigly’s homer, the hard-throwing right hander also tossed five innings allowing two earned runs with five strikeouts to earn the win.
After falling to Dumas 4-1 earlier in the week, Randall now moves to 3-1 in district play and 17-6 overall.
Canyon (15-2-2) did pick up a 21-0 shutout against Perryton on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles are currently 2-2 in the district standings. In that win against Perryton, Maddie Hight was 3-for-4 including a home run.
District 4-4A quick hits
Dumas remains unbeaten in District 4-4A getting two wins this past week. the Demonettes downed Randall 4-1 on Thursday then beat up Borger 13-2 on Saturday. Dumas (19-3) is a perfect 4-0 to start league action. In the victory against Randall, Star Cortes worked a complete game in the circle scattering four hits with six K’s. Against Borger on Saturday, Aaliyah Chairez went 3-for-4 with a triple totaling three RBIs.
The Pampa Lady Harvesters were able to keep pace with Dumas staying undefeated in District 4-4A with two wins over the past week. The Lady Harvesters beat Borger and Hereford by an identical 11-1 score on Tuesday and Thursday. Pampa is now 12-2 overall and 4-0 in district action. Maecie Hawthorne started both games in the circle getting two wins totaling 10 innings with 12 combined strikeouts. Hawthorne also did her job at the dish in both games going a combined 3-for-5 with a homer tallying three RBIs.
After a rough first week, West Plains is now back in the district conversation getting victories against Perryton 26-7, and Hereford 11-1 on Monday and Tuesday. The Lady Wolves (6-11-1) are now 2-2 in district. The Lady Wolves slugged out 20 hits against Perryton highlighted by Jaylen Kaps 3-for-3 day that included a homer, a double with a total of six RBIs. Against Hereford, Brooklyn Diaz was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs driven in.

Amarillo High uses hot bats to stay perfect in 3-5A
Amarillo High showed just how explosive its offense can be combining for 34 runs in wins over Lubbock High and Tascosa on Thursday and Saturday.
The Lady Sandies outslugged the Lady Westerners for a 17-10 victory Thursday, then turned around and cruised by Tascosa with a 16-3 win at home Saturday.
In those pair of wins, the AHS offense not only totaled 34 runs but combined for 37 hits with 10 of those going for extra bases. Against Lubbock High, the Lady Sandies put a close game away scoring five runs in the top of the seventh highlighted by a base clearing triple from Mykaela Samuels. Samuels feasted on LHS pitching going 4-for-4 with six RBIS.
On Saturday, AHS jumped all over the Lady Rebels scoring seven runs in the first three innings. The long ball was a friend to the Lady Sandies as they sent three out of the park. Madilyn Russell was a big part of the homer show hitting a grand slam on a 2-for-4 day at the dish finishing with five RBIs. Brianna Cloud ended the day with two doubles and three RBIs.
AHS is now 15-6-2 on the year and 4-0 in District 3-5A.
Tascosa (9-13 overall, 0-4 in district) didn’t have the best week as the Lady Rebels fell to Lubbock Monterey 17-5 on Thursday.
Quick hits
Caprock went 1-1 this past week. The Lady Longhorns lost to Lubbock-Cooper 17-3 on Thursday, but did bounce back to blank Palo Duro 25-0 on Saturday. Caprock (7-6-1) is now 2-2 in District 3-5A. Against the Lady Dons, Grace Morales went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, and two RBIs. Morales also tossed four scoreless innings allowing a hit with eight strikeouts. Teammate Anahi Cadena was a perfect 5-for-5 including a homer and a double with three runs driven in.
In District 1-2A, Sanford-Fritch is off to a great start. The Lady Eagles beat Sunray 11-6 on Wednesday. Kaylnn Roberts was 2-for-5 against Sunray with a pair of RBIs. Sanford-Fritch improves to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in district action.
Sunray did get a win earlier in the week beating West Texas High on Monday by an 11-8 count. Enya Diaz was 3-for-3 including two doubles with an RBI. Tegan Lee was 2-for-3 with a double, a homer and three RBIs. Sunray is now 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Gruver is having quite the start under head coach Trent Lankford. The Lady Hounds won a wild 19-12 game against Highland Park on Tuesday. That puts Gruver at 6-5 overall and 2-1 in District 1-2A. Carly Neely had the pop at the plate going 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs. Natalie Harper added a 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs.
