Tascosa advances to regional finals by taming Aledo

Tascosa and Aledo battled it out for four quarters, however, in the end it was the Tascosa Lady Rebels standing tall taking down the Lady Bearcats 36-29 in a Class 5A Division I regional semifinal Monday night at Haskell High School.

The Lady Rebels are the only Amarillo ISD team still standing and will now take on Denton Ryan (29-7) for the regional championship at 6 p.m. Friday at Vernon High School. The Lady Raiders advanced to this game beating Tascosa rival Amarillo High 62-57 on Monday.

Tascosa and Aledo were evenly matched up with this game staying close all the way through. Tascosa led 17-15 at the break, and 25-21 heading into the fourth quarter. Fortunately, Tascosa was able to play great defense and get enough offense down the stretch to hold on for the win.

Tryssa Dowd continued her strong string of playoff performances scoring a game-high 15 for the Lady Rebels. Teammate Nic’Kiyah Fisher added nine.

Dalhart downs Clyde

Dalhart is headed to the UIL Class 3A Division I regional championship after absolutely dismantling Clyde 77-35 during a regional semifinal at Plainview High School on Tuesday.

The Lady Wolves dominated from start to finish going up 43-15 by the half and never looking back. Dalhart had three players finish in double digits paced by Evelyn Quiroz and her game-best 21 points. Kammi Maddox followed with 19 points and Joie Read chipped in 16.

Dalhart picks up its 30th win on the year improving to 30-6 overall and is now set for a showdown with Jim Ned (33-2) at 6 p.m. Friday at Lubbock-Cooper Liberty. The Lady Indians defeated defending Class 3A state championship Shallowater 56-49 on Tuesday night.

Clarendon rolls by Roscoe

For the first time in 11 years, the Clarendon Lady Broncos will play for a regional championship.

Clarendon was able to make that happen by handling Roscoe 52-41 during a Class 2A Division II regional semifinal in Floydada on Tuesday night.

The Lady Broncos, who are making their first regional championship appearance since 2014, are now getting a showdown with Farwell (27-8) in Bushland at 6 p.m. Thursday night. This is also a rematch from last year’s area round where the Lady Blue eliminated the Lady Broncos.

Tandie Cummins was solid for Clarendon scoring 12 points. Teammates Hayden Elam and Berkley Moore each had eight.

Texline takes down Whitharral

Texline was able to make school history by holding off Whitharral thanks to a 47-40 victory in the Class 1A Division II regional semifinals Tuesday night at Vega High School.

The Lady Tornadoes (22-8) advance to the regional championship for the first time in school history and are now set for a showdown with tradition-rich Nazareth (26-9) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Amarillo High Activity Center.

The first quarter set the tone for Texline as the Lady Tornadoes came out shooting hot going up 14-5.

Jada Clay poured in the points knocking down five 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 23. Alex Montes did her part on both ends and tallied eight points.

San Jacinto Christian rallies past Ovilla Christian

San Jacinto Christian Academy was able to erase a double digit third quarter deficit and rally back for a thrilling 55-46 home win against Ovilla Christian during a TAPPS Class 2A area round contest Tuesday night.

The Lady Patriots found themselves down 10 halfway through the third quarter and trailing 44-38 after three quarters. However, the SJCA defense stepped up and the offense did what it needed to do and the Lady Patriots were able to put together the comeback for the victory.

Harlie Brabham was superb all the way through finishing the game with 23 points. Mikee McReynolds followed with 11. Ovilla Christian’s Sophia Henry had 13.

SJCA (32-6) has advanced to the regional round and will face Victory Christian Academy (25-5) at 3 p.m. Saturday at Childress High School.

Randall and Pampa fall in regional semifinals

Randall and Pampa saw its season come to an end Wednesday in the UIL Class 4A Division II regional semifinals.

The Lady Raiders fell to Glen Rose 50-30 while the Lady Harvesters were beaten by Brock 60-24. Randall ends its year at 24-11. Pampa sees its year come to an end with a 13-23 mark.
