Will Maynard, Amarillo High, Jr. QB

Making only his second start of his young career, Maynard grew up in a big way helping his Sandies stun rival Tascosa, 36-33. The junior was 11 of 22 for 208 yards with three passing scores and a rushing TD. He also orchestrated the Sandies game-winning drive, connecting on a 21-yard pass to Peyton Conner with four seconds remaining for the winning touchdown.

Jared Thomas, Bushland, Sr. QB

The Falcons signal caller let the ball fly Friday night, leading Bushland to a 61-8 route of Dalhart on Friday. Thomas, the son of Bushland head coach Jimmy Thomas, tied Taylor Cornelius’ school-record with seven touchdown passes, and he did in three quarters. Thomas finished the game 12 of 21 for 334 yards.

Bo Christie, Canyon, Sr. LB

The captain of the Eagles stingy defense led a dominant performance when Canyon beat rival Randall 22-7 on Friday. Christi was in the mix on nearly every play, making a game-high tackles, seven of those solo tackles, with a quarterback hurry.

Treyson Dilworth, Palo Duro, Jr. RB

Dilworth carried the load in the backfield during the Dons come-from-behind 32-28 victory at Plainview on Friday night. The speedy junior carried the ball 13 times for 156 yards and a touchdown. Dilworth finished the night averaging 12 yards a carry.

Avian Cruz, West Texas High Jr., QB

The dual-threat quarterback played a great game, getting his Comanches a big 34-27 road win at Stratford in a competitive contest Friday. Cruz went 15 of 21 through the air for 242 yards and three scores. He also ran for 85 yards and a score.

Wesley Pate, Highland Park, Sr. DE

How bout those Highland Park Hornets. Coach Wade Wilson’s team is turning heads, starting off the year at 2-0 for the first time in three years after a thrilling 20-19 win over Clarendon. Senior Wesley Pate was a huge factor for the Hornets racking up 15 tackles, making two sacks and had four pressures.

Dallan Dill, Dumas, Jr. LB

Anyone that’s seen Dumas play has to be impressed with its linebacker play. Dill, who wears No. 42, is one that stands out. The junior made an impact in a 48-28 victory over Caprock making seven tackles with a quarterback hurry Thursday night.

Marc Ramirez, Wellington, So. RB-LB

Ramirez was the definition of a two-way star in Wellington’s 34-15 win against Fredrick, Okla. Offensively, Ramirez ran for a game-high 113 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown. On the defensive side, Ramirez was just as impressive, making 16 tackles, six of which were for a loss.

Jalin Conyers, Gruver, Sr. Qb

For a second straight week, Conyers had a big game at the QB position. During a 54-0 shutout of Sunray, the Oklahoma commit went17 of 29 for 188 yards and two touchdowns. He also had nine carries for 113 yards and 3 TDs rushing.

Jacob Batista, Friona, So. RB

The Chieftains are off to a 2-0 start thanks to two offensive performances of 60 plus points. In a route of Bovina, the sophomore piled up 145 yards rushing on only seven carries with a score. He also caught three passes for 82 yards for another score
