The Rock is alive and kickin’ in the playoff hunt with a win putting them a tie for fourth place with Tascosa and an edge in the tiebreaker. Tascosa lost the heartbreaker of all heartbreakers last week allowing a kickoff return for a TD to Abilene in the final 20 seconds of a 31-29 loss. Tascosa rebounds and clinches a playoff berth. … Tascosa 31, Caprock 14.

Booker will be missing several key pieces of their team which swings the outcome to the home team in an upset special. … Wildorado 60, Booker 58.

Those 43 wins equal the current longest consecutive win streak in a series for the state of Texas. AHS has too much of a Jett (Lopez) offense in this one. Chalk it up to 44 in a row. … Amarillo High 63, Lubbock High 17.
District 2-5A Division II
Wichita Falls Legacy (0-8, 0-4) at Palo Duro (4-4, 1-3), 7 p.m., Dick Bivins Stadium

Last week: 5-1 (.833)
Season: 32-6 (.842)
District 2-4A Division I
Canyon (5-3, 1-2) at Hereford (6-2, 2-1), 7 p.m.
In terms of playoff implications and a sense of urgency, this is the biggest game in the district this week. Hereford is in the best position, and if the Whitefaces win, they clinch a playoff spot. Canyon is more desperate, but is back in the thick of things with a victory. A loss, though, and the Eagles see their margin for error whittled to nearly zero going into the final week of the regular season. Hereford has been the more consistent of the two teams, although Canyon is coming off a huge second half offensively in beating Pampa. This should be a close game, but a slightly more diverse offense and homefield advantage should give the Herd the edge. … Hereford 31, Canyon 28.
West Plains (5-3, 3-0) at Dumas (3-5, 1-2), 7 p.m.
Nobody’s riding higher than West Plains right now, as the Wolves became the first team in the district to clinch a playoff spot by routing previously unbeaten Randall in the much anticipated first gridiron meeting between the two schools last week. They’re visiting a desperate Dumas team this week which needs a win to get into serious playoff contention. It’s an intriguing matchup featuring two talented underclassmen at quarterback, West Plains junior Reid Macon and Dumas sophomore Colton Mills. There’s a danger West Plains could suffer a letdown after last week’s big win. It could happen, but not enough to go home with a loss. … West Plains 38, Dumas 28.
Pampa (2-6, 0-3) at Randall (7-1, 2-1) 7 p.m., Happy State Bank Stadium
Randall came down to earth with a serious thud in last week’s loss to West Plains which spoiled an undefeated season. That, and the possibility of clinching a playoff spot, should provide plenty of motivation for the Raiders. Struggling Pampa will be all but eliminated from the playoff picture with a loss, and even with a win, the Harvesters would have to have a lot of things go their way to get in contention. This could make Pampa dangerous, especially if the Raiders overlook this one for next Friday’s traditional regular season ending rivalry game against Canyon. They’ll likely still be too seething over last week to let that happen. … Randall 47, Pampa 14.
District 2-4A Division II
Levelland (4-4, 0-2) at Borger (3-5, 1-1), 7 p.m.
Incentive is high in the final home game of the season for Borger, as the Bulldogs will clinch a playoff berth with a victory. They’ll need to recover from last week’s lopsided loss to Estacado and show they’re worthy of that in a game with plenty of playoff position implications. Levelland is coming off a crushing double overtime loss to Perryton last week and needs a win to stay in playoff contention, so both teams enter this one highly motivated. It should be close, but being at home should carry the Bulldogs into the postseason when all is said and done. … Borger 22, Levelland 20.
Lubbock Estacado (5-4, 3-0) at Lubbock-Cooper Liberty (2-6, 1-1), 7 p.m.
Estacado has already clinched a playoff berth and will cement its status as the class of the district with a victory to clinch an unbeaten district title. First-year program Liberty will clinch a playoff berth with a victory and a Levelland loss to Borger. All those factors weigh in favor of the Matadors, who will sew up the No. 1 seed and force Liberty to wait a week to determine its playoff fate. … Estacado 52, Liberty 21.

Claude (5-4, 1-2) at White Deer (3-5, 1-1), 7 p.m.
If the Bucks win this one, they still have an outside shot at a playoff spot but don’t expect Claude to roll over in this one. Both teams run the ball well, but the Mustangs do have some weapons through the air. In a back-and-forth game Claude pulls out a squeaker. … Claude 54, White Deer 52.
District 2-1A Division I
Springlake-Earth (4-4, 2-1) at Kress (4-4, 0-2), 7:30 p.m.
A win locks in a playoff spot for the Wolverines and a potential district title depending on next week’s Happy and Nazareth game. Don’t expect them to look past the Kangaroos but it won’t be a cakewalk. … Springlake-Earth 62, Kress 24.
District 5-1A Division I
Spur (8-0, 2-0) at Valley (3-5, 2-0), 7 p.m.
Four weeks ago, the Patriots were winless with pundits having buried them for the season. Fast forward to this game and Valley just needs to win this game or next week’s game at Petersburg to get into the playoffs. The Bulldogs possess a strong 1-2 punch in Josh Ortiz and Ace Walker that’s the difference in this one. … Spur 66, Valley 28.
Silverton (2-7, 0-3) at Lorenzo (3-5, 0-2), 7:30 p.m.
A promising season has gone flat for the Owls this year. Injuries have wrecked Kevin Hurn’s squad all season long. One constant for most of the season has been the play of Zaden Ortiz and the speed spread back leads them to victory in this one. … Silverton 48, Lorenzo 18.
