The West Texas A&M men’s basketball team rang in 2024 how they left 2023 nabbing a pair of road wins against Midwestern State and Cameron during Lone Star Conference play on Thursday and Saturday.
The No. 4-ranked Buffs were able to hold off an eager MSU team 72-67 on Thursday followed by another close call coming away with a 72-68 win at Cameron on Saturday.
WTAMU stays hot at 12-1 overall on the season and a perfect 6-0 in LSC action.
Senior leader Zach Toussaint did everything he could to lead the Buffs to victory against the Mustangs on Thursday night. Toussaint went for a team-high 15 points knocking down four, three-pointers. Ryland Holt and Larry Wise each chipped in with 14.
The Buffs shot 40 percent (22-of-55) from the floor and were 7-of-22 from beyond the arc.
During Saturday’s victory at Cameron, it was Wise and Holt once again leading the charge with the duo combining for 31 points. Wise walked away with a team-high 16 points with Holt scoring 15. Ahamed Mohammed added 11, and Kieran Elliott added 10 points with eight rebounds.
WTAMU shot very well going 28-of-62 from the field (45.2 percent) and 68.8 percent from downtown (5-of-13).
